A Weekend in ... Dubai!

Modernity and sea, sustainability and desert safaris: Dubai is famous for its impressive diversity. These spots - from hotels to gastronomy - are not to be missed in 2022.

28 May 2022

Anyone in Dubai who lets their gaze wander from one of the rooftop restaurants over the city's skyscrapers and onto the sea will enjoy the interplay of growth and modernity. The Dubai Mall, with its 1,200 stores, and the Burj Khalifa as the tallest tower in the world are juxtaposed with the contemporary pursuit of sustainability in this desert metropolis of the United Arab Emirates.

This is noticeable, for example, in gastronomy: whether upscale or down-to-earth, vegetarian or vegan products from home-grown or small farms, they are all increasingly represented on plates. Research is being conducted into the best conditions for offering freshly caught oysters and seafood - they delight the palate at high temperatures.

Nevertheless, in summer more than twelve hours of sunshine a day are easily possible. The most beautiful sunset can be experienced on Kite Beach with a view of Dubai's most famous hotel, the Burj al Arab, or of the colourful paragliders flying over the sea. What else does Dubai have to offer? Immersion in Arab culture, desert safaris and sunbathing on the beach. Stay in one of the luxury hotels, which are almost a dime a dozen, or in one of the casual boutique hotels on the beach in Jumeirah, where the sound of the sea can be heard from the noble villas.
