Reason to Book?

The sustainable camp in the middle of Namibia's red dunes scores with its minimal ecological footprint. Thanks to solar power. When the sun slowly sets, the true highlight of the camp emerges. Because that's when you retreat to your villa, push your bed onto the terrace and enjoy a night outdoors under a billion stars that are within reach. Adventure, freedom and nature combine to create an unforgettable experience.

Location & neighborhood

Dune Star Camp is located high in the dunes, surrounded by the Naukluft Mountains. From the nearby lodge (pool and WiFi included), it's just a few minutes by jeep up the sandy track to the plateau where Dune Star Camp spreads out. The area is home to springbok, hyena, zebra, oryx, giraffe and leopard. And nothing else. Whoever is a guest here can look forward to absolute peace and closeness to nature.

Rooms & suites

In total there are 9 villas available. Two of them are triple rooms, the remaining seven are designed as double rooms. The furnishings are minimalist and reflect the sparse environment. One almost has the feeling of being in a safari tent. In addition to a small bathroom and the large bedroom, each villa has a large terrace with double doors leading to it. The double beds are on castors. And as soon as the setting sun bathes the surrounding Naukluft mountains in its dreamlike light, the time has come to push the bed out onto the balcony. Just in time for nightfall, one of nature's most magical spectacles begins. Millions of stars, shooting stars and the sounds of the Namibian desert make every overnight stay an unforgettable experience.

Food & Drinks

In addition to the nine villas, there is a large main house with terrace. From there, the view falls on the breathtaking expanse of the desert. While oryxes pass by in the distance, guests enjoy gin and tonics and nibbles over a sundowner before gathering around a large table for dinner. Although you're practically in the middle of nowhere, both the drinks and the menu are impressive.

Families & Activities

Dune Star Camp is designed for adult guests. It is part of the Romantic hotels and restaurants. Children 12 years and older are welcome. Activities include morning and evening walking safaris and game drives. A night at Dune Star Camp is an exceedingly romantic experience that immediately makes you forget about everyday life. One of the reasons for this is that there is no internet at the camp. Digital detox has never been more beautiful.

Service & Ambience

The interior of each cottage is tasteful and minimalist. The same goes for the restaurant. Nothing disturbs the experience of being very close to nature. It's worth spending the night before or after at the lodge to take advantage of amenities like the pool and relax a bit before continuing your trip through Namibia. The service is more than attentive. At least four staff members look after the well-being of the maximum of 20 guests.

Recommendations from the editors

Since the camp is an eco-camp and runs on solar power, there are only a few outlets in the main house. So before heading up to the camp, it's worth charging all your batteries. Words cannot describe how breathtakingly beautiful the starry sky is. And how close the stars seem to be. If you want to capture these unforgettable moments photographically, you should bring an SLR camera and learn a little about astrophotography in advance.
