Eclectic Dining & Drinks: Is this Vienna's new foodie hotspot?

The recently opened Radisson RED on Vienna's Naschmarkt has a spectacular highlight in store for gourmands. The trendy SARAI seduces with a fusion of Korean, Japanese and Italian.

June 4, 2022

SARAI, the hotel's own restaurant, promises a "gourmet cation" at the Radisson RED, the first of its kind to open in Austria in March 2022. A self-designation that is quite appropriate if one takes a look at the eclectic, Silk Road inspired food and beverage menu. Add to that the photogenic ambience between unagitated coolness, cosy modern interior - and the mural by artist David Leitner. We like!

Eclectic Dining with Ambience

The hotel chain has already proven several times that the Radisson RED is at the forefront when it comes to trends. The SARAI is no exception. Modern furniture, the courage to use strong colours, lots of greenery and a harmonious mix of materials such as velvet, oak wood, stone and leather create a modern and comfortable atmosphere. In short: the SARAI is definitely stylish.

The visual eye-catcher - besides the well-placed lighting moments and the quirky-beautiful picture gallery - is the large mural by Austrian artist David Leitner, which gives the SARAI a touch of street art flair.

What to eat

A trip around the world for the palate: the menu at SARAI lists dishes from Japanese cuisine as well as Korean and Italian specialities, now and then also all kinds of fine food that provide culinary delight along the Silk Road - all interpreted in a modern way and quite complex.

"Eclecticism" is the guideline here, and it has been adhered to: at SARAI, you feast on "Herbs & Leaves" with Asian salads, enjoy the "Raw Kitchen", for example in the form of the vegetarian and classic version of Beef Tartare. The former is a specialty of pickled beets with a walnut topping that must be tried! Carnivores can look forward to short ribs with hoisin sauce or lamb, oriental and slow-cooked. Accompanied by BBQ cauliflower with an Asian twist.

And because the Silk Road leads all the way to Europe, SARAI also offers Italian classics, including the finest pizza. Decadent desserts, which sound as delicious as they taste, satisfy the sweet tooth: pulled Chocolate Cake with cardamom and apricots, crème brûlée made with black sesame seeds, or chamomile panna cotta with truffle honey,  to name just a few.

Drink on the Danube Canal

Let's drink to that: nightlife plays a big role in Vienna - "no na net". Especially on the Danube Canal, which is one of the city's most popular spots in summer. The SARAI is more than ready for festive, lively evenings. Fine drinks are served in the restaurant itself as well as in the large courtyard, as are exquisite wines, this time from Europe, as stand-alones or food accompaniments. In the area of cocktails, the newcomer shows itself creative. "Pornstar Martini" or "Berry Mojito" are the new it-drinks of the season.

In addition, restaurant and bar manager of the Radisson RED, Emmanouil Antonarakis:

"True to the motto 'Vienna is different,' we are always trying out new, unusual concoctions inspired by the vibe of the city. Most of our ingredients and thirst quenchers come from regional producers or local breweries with whom we work closely."
