Greece: In the Garden of the Gods

White sandy beaches, blue domed roofs and dreamy fishing villages. We show you the most beautiful pearls of the Mediterranean.

6 July 2020

White sandy beaches, blue domed roofs, dreamy fishing villages, crystal clear bays and countless hours of sunshine: The islands of the Aegean and the unique Costa Navarino on the mainland are probably among the most beautiful pearls of the Mediterranean.

Dazzling Mykonos

The small Cycladic island of Mykonos has developed into an island of superlatives in recent years. Night owls, sun worshippers and culture lovers will find what they are looking for here. The narrow streets are a symphony of white and blue - typically elegant architecture, classy boutiques and the best traditional Greek cuisine all find their place in the loving confusion. Every beach on Mykonos has its own charm - whether gravel or sand, busy or completely natural: On the 90-kilometre coastline, sunny days and turquoise waters are always included. The most popular beaches are Psarrou Beach as well as Paradise Beach and Super Paradise Beach. Here you will also find the Paradise Club, one of the most famous discos on Mykonos: every afternoon, probably the most spectacular party on the island starts here and lasts until the early hours of the morning. Because then, when the sun sends its last rays over the horizon and the balmy air caresses the sun-kissed skin, Mykonos gets ready for the night.

FROM THE BEACH TO THE BAR

A stylish Aperò is best enjoyed at the Buddha Bar Beach or in the Beach Club Scorpios. In the south of the island, you can listen to deep house mixed by international DJs in an exclusive, informal atmosphere. Mykonos lives up to its nickname "Ibiza of Greece" between the Cycladic sunset, colorful drinks and fairy lights.

The most beautiful of the Aegean: Santorini

Who doesn't know the volcanic island of Santorini? Like in a picture book, the hangover rim of the former volcano rises out of the deep blue sea, above which the famous white villages built in rock are enthroned. This colourful work of art is a mesh of majestic cliffs, stone alleys, magnificent terraces, windmills, brilliant sunshine and unsurpassed luxury. Santorini's beaches are just as diverse as the city's gorgeous alleyways: the most famous and most visited beach is the black Kamari Beach, which fascinates visitors with its pitch-black gravel-sand mixture. In the south of the island you will find the "Red Beach" - the deep red cliffs and the black-red sand are a real natural wonder.

THE NIGHT TO THE DAY

As the day draws to a close, Santorini undergoes a transformation: Already in the early evening it can be enjoyed along the Perivolos beaches The party can then be continued in the numerous clubs in the interior of the island. Wine connoisseurs seeking peace and quiet will find their place to be at Amoudi Bay, which also tempts with the best fish dishes and excellent ouzo. At the end of a long night, when the first rays of sunshine of a new day tickle your nose, a trip to the Monastero di Pygros is worthwhile, from where you can enjoy the best view of the island at dawn.

Sustainable luxury on the Costa Navarino

Costa Navarino on mainland Greece is one man's dream come true: former captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos is setting new standards in eco-luxury tourism, organic farming, energy efficiency combined with ancient Greek traditions in the Peloponnese. Today the region consists of several sites: Navarino Dunes, Navarino Bay, Navarino Waterfront, Navarino Hills and Navarino Blue. A mix of deluxe resorts, world-class spas, unique golf courses and private residences make the area a must-see in Greece. As a guest in the nature reserve, you are surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, thousands of orange trees and flowering meadows. The products used in the kitchens of the restaurants and hotels come from the surrounding area. It is also home to the country's first two designer golf courses. Two 18-hole courses in an idyllic location next to the most beautiful golf resorts, five-star hotels and an almost endless choice of other sports and the best weather all year round make Costa Navarino a holiday destination in a class of its own.
