Why did you decide to live in Istanbul as well as Bucharest?
It wasn't really planned that way. I came here for the first time on business and the city immediately captivated me.

What do you love most about Istanbul?
I love the diversity. There is a rich mix of cultures, which I appreciate very much. The city is right on the water, from which I draw a lot of strength; the Bosphorus is simply magical. You find history and things that amaze you at every turn, the people are extremely accommodating and hospitable - you really feel at home here right away. And then there is the Turkish food ...

How do you spend a typical weekend in spring?
I usually start the day with a hearty breakfast in the garden before walking along the waterfront and later going to yoga. In the evening I meet friends at the restaurant "Lucca", for dinner and drinks. On Sundays, I like to go to a book cafe, preferably one that has cats. I love the cats that roam all over Istanbul!

What is a must-do in Istanbul?
A boat trip on the Bosphorus, especially at sunset - that is true balm for the soul. But Istanbul is also the perfect place to just let yourself drift. There is always something new to discover.

What should you definitely take home from Istanbul?
Sweets! Nowhere are there more and better sweets than here. And, of course, the memories of the good times spent here.

Local Shops: Istanbul is full of treasures - from handmade objects and gorgeous dresses to fragrant spices and sinfully delicious sweets. If you take the time to browse local stores, you're guaranteed to find what you're looking for. © GettyImages
