Pack your suitcase like a pro: This is how it's done!

This Travelhack saves a lot of time, money and nerves. You will not regret it!

21 July 2021

We are all holiday-ready, that's no question! But the closer we actually get to the holiday, the more we have to deal with the question of what to take with us and what should rather stay at home. And because we usually pack either too little or way too much, here's a travel hack, how to pack your suitcase properly. The best thing is: whether hand luggage or large suitcase - these tricks always work!

Pack only the essentials

Of course, this sounds easier than it actually is. However, if you stick to it, you'll be grateful later on - even if the planning takes a little more time. Here it's best to write a list of things that you'll really need. Just think about what the weather will be like at your holiday destination, what your plans are there and what the local conditions are like. If you stay in a hotel, there is almost certainly a hairdryer available, so there is no need to pack this bulky thing.

Pack in the correct order

To save as much space as possible and to avoid crushed clothes, it is recommended to pack the suitcase in a certain order. Heavy things like books or shoes should always be at the bottom; light utensils like blouses or dresses at the top.

Roll clothes optimally

It is even more optimal if you do not fold your clothes, but roll them up. This saves space and you don't have any nasty surprises when you arrive at your holiday destination. Another travel hack: If you take closed shoes with you, you can also stow your socks there. This not only provides more free space in the suitcase but also prevents the shoes from becoming deformed. To be more hygienic, you can cover the shoes with disposable shower caps, so that the sole does not touch any clothes or other things.

Carry the things that take up the most space on yourself

There are certain shoes, clothes, hats or bags that take up a lot of space. So that your suitcase is not already completely full with these few things, you can simply carry them during the trip. In general, you could make sure to leave especially bulky and heavy things at home.

Leave a little space

If you follow all these tips, then it could even turn out that some space remains in the suitcase. Because, while on vacation, most people want to buy souvenirs or the like, but in the end usually do not know where to put it. In order not to unnecessarily spend money on excess baggage or another piece of luggage, it is highly recommended to leave a little free space in the suitcase.
