Affordable luxury: these are the top 5 design hotels in Vienna

More and more often you can find them in the cities: Design or Boutique Hotels. We have selected the five most beautiful design hotels in Vienna.

19 October 2021

Whether in Venice, in Tuscany or in Athens - more and more often you read about boutique or design hotels. These captivate above all with their unique, individual style and an extraordinary design concept. Unlike hotel chains or large hotels, they are usually privately run, which gives the accommodation a personal touch. Although they often have fewer and smaller rooms, boutique and design hotels are in no way inferior to the large chains in terms of exclusivity and first-class service - and are thus enjoying increasing popularity. We have compiled the five most beautiful design hotels in Vienna.

1. sans souci

If you want to be right in the cultural and artistic heart of Vienna, the Sans Souci is the place to be. The exclusive boutique hotel is located exactly between the traditional 1st and the hip 7th district, right next to the Museumsquartier is also a direct neighbor of the Volkstheater. In addition to a prime location, guests at the Sans Souci can also expect a spacious wellness and fitness area, a delicious restaurant with modern interpretations of Austrian cuisine, and a distinctive design by yoo, the creative team around world-renowned designer Philippe Starck and visionary real estate developer John Hitchcox.

2. hotel daniel

Ideally located in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station, right next to Belvedere Palace and opposite the Swiss Garden, the Hotel Daniel Wien does without cluttered furnishings and stands out for its minimalist design. Even from afar, the design hotel stands out with the sailboat by artist Erwin Wurm on the roof. Especially popular: the delicious pastries from the in-house Daniel Bakery and the extensive brunch. Guests also have the opportunity to explore the city with E-Vespas and bicycles, which they can easily rent at the hotel.

3. 25hours Hotel

Welcome to the circus: 183 rooms and 34 suites invite guests to a colourful circus world at the 25hours Hotel Wien near the Museumsquartier, specially created by the Augsburg design team Dreimeta and Armin Fischer. In addition to the distinctive design, guests here can also look forward to the attic, a rooftop bar that has already made a name for itself among locals thanks to the spectacular view over the Museumsquartier and the city of Vienna. Seven floors below, the in-house restaurant Ribelli provides culinary delights with hearty Italian dishes.

4. hotel motto

Only since October of this year, Hotel Motto welcomes its guests with a lot of French flair in the middle of Mariahilfer Straße. Nothing was left to chance here: The furniture was further developed from the furniture of the Hotel Ritz in Paris, every lamp is truly unique and was designed especially for the hotel, even the staff work in chic uniforms by designer Lena Hoschek. But the newly opened hotel doesn't just look good: the rooftop terrace offers wonderful views, while you can enjoy bread in the garden of the Boulangerie MOTTO or sustainable dishes in the restaurant Chez Bernard.

5. Max Brown

Another design hotel in the middle of Vienna's creative hub, the trendy 7th district, is the Max Brown Hotel. The Max Brown limits itself to the basics, but that doesn't mean it has anything less to offer: record player in the room, high-quality toiletries from Zenology and the comfiest beds, to name just a few of the perks. Conveniently, dogs are also welcome here. Also on the premises is the renowned Seven North Restaurant, where guests can sample creative interpretations of Southern Mediterranean cuisine from internationally acclaimed chef Eyal Shani.
