Romantic City Getaways for Valentine's Day 2022

Valentine's Day 2022 is the perfect occasion for a city trip for two. Fortunately, some European cities attract with particularly romantic ambience, top hotels and wonderful restaurants.

1 February 2022

Sure, it doesn't take a special day to spend time with your favorite person. But why not just use Valentine's Day 2022 for a romantic city trip? Discovering hidden corners of a city together, enjoying a candlelit dinner with a view of the sights and then retiring to wonderfully cozy beds - who wouldn't start dreaming? Fortunately, it doesn't have to stop at dreaming. Because many European cities offer just that. These three cities make the romantic vision a reality:

The icon: Paris

An article about romantic cities simply cannot ignore the "City of Love", that's for sure. But what makes the French capital so romantic? Where the city got its nickname is not completely clear. Perhaps it has to do with the romantic art movement that took off from Paris in the 18th century. Or it has to do with the enchanted corners in the artists' quarter of Montmartre. Small alleys, picturesque houses - the Parisian atmosphere is simply magical. Add to that bridges spanning the Seine. Small cafés. Chocolate stores. And then there are sights like the Parc des Buttes Chaumont with its stalactite caves and artificial lake. Or - of course - the Eiffel Tower.

The Eternal: Rome

The "eternal city" on the Tiber is already enjoying warm temperatures and rays of sunshine in mid-February. Lovers stroll among ancient monuments and world-famous sights. Romans like to celebrate, and Valentine's Day is no exception. After all, Saint Valentine, to whom this holiday goes back, was supposedly Roman. Around the "Day of Love" many restaurants and hotels therefore offer special romance deals.
