Seefels Castle shows pure art: impressive fusion of architecture, art & design

Probably the most beautiful place on Lake Wörthersee is also home to Schloss Seefels, one of the most beautiful buildings in Wörthersee architecture. A hotel that turns out to be a museum.

What presents itself harmoniously, youthfully and romantically on the outside, presents itself contrastingly, boldly and avant-garde on the inside: a total work of art of design and designs by a who's who of contemporary artists.

Be our guest at the HOseum.

At Seefels Castle, guests reside in the 5-star superior hotel and are directly in the museum. This unique combination makes the boutique hotel of the eponymous group under the leadership of art collector and hotelière Helena Ramsbacher the HOseum.

More than 200 works of art

More than 200 paintings from the Essl Collection and the Haselsteiner family private collection can be seen in the lobby, restaurants, castle bar, rooms and suites. Inspired by Karel Appel, Georg Baselitz, Maria Lassnig and Markus Lüpertz in the lobby, more can be seen in the rooms. And there, no two are alike.

68 times art in art

13 color concepts with designs ranging from geometric to floral to ornithological and made-to-measure furniture, coordinated with the spatial structures, give the rooms and suites their character; this is enhanced by art to become a character of its own kind. Even if art is self-sufficient, here it's harmoniously integrated into a total work of art that does only one thing: it simply astonishes.

The canapé of the Viennese furniture workshops Wittmann, covered with the floral fabric of Casamance, is lined with Venini lamps and gives the painter Eduard Bäumer his space - for the works 'Schroffe Felsen' and 'Große Landschaft'.

A sea of flowers

It not only blooms on fabrics and pictures, it also blooms on tiles. In the spa, thousands of Bisazza mosaics display a colorful bloom that lets the eye wander from the sea of flowers out to the turquoise-green Wörthersee.

To give your eyes a rest, the Laconium is monochrome: everything shines in gold. In the Urban Jungle Spa Bar, it's full of colors again.

Art is porn with colors

Billi Thanner's art of the same name is on display at the Pink Birkin Salon. The name says it all: pink is the leading color of the interior in the gourmet restaurant, which has been awarded four Falstaff forks, and Birkin is the namesake of the artwork by Attila Adorján, who photorealistically depicted the Hermès bag named after Jane Birkin.

More than photorealistic

Every view and place in the castle is an Instagram spot, and quite real is the sky ladder by artist Billi Thanner, which rises into the sky with its 21 rungs in the color-changing neon light. "What a heavenly sensation it is to follow art," Johann Wolfgang von Goethe might have said had he been a guest at Seefels.
