Eco-floating hotel: this floating hotel generates its own electricity

The Eco-Floating Hotel could revolutionize the tourism industry in terms of sustainability!

How will we go on holiday in the future? And how can we also travel sustainably ? The tourism industry is increasingly addressing these questions. One answer could now be the innovative Eco-Floating-Hotel. The futuristic design comes from the team of the Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio (HAADS). The floating hotel can generate electricity by itself.

The floating eco-hotel

The idea of staying in a hotel that generates its own electricity is quite futuristic. But this vision is not that far away. A Turkish architecture firm has developed an eco-hotel that can do just that. What's special about it is that it floats and rotates around itself.

The idea behind the eco-floating hotel is that it has minimal energy loss and produces no waste. For a whole six months, the architects worked together with naval architects on how best to implement the construction.

How the hotel works

According to the concept, the hotel is located in the middle of the sea. By rotating, it can then generate its own electricity - like a bicycle dynamo. It is controlled by a sophisticated computer system. Its own propellers and thrusters also ensure that it rotates in the right direction. A complete rotation could take about 24 hours.

The guests are not supposed to notice anything. The rotation is apparently only noticeable because the view out of the window is constantly changing. And also an own rainwater treatment, by collecting the water in a large funnel, is supposed to have a positive effect on the environment.

Luxury on 35,000 square meters

Currently, the design is to be used for a five-star hotel in a class of its own. The facility with 152 rooms will then be spread over 35,000 square meters. Outdoor pools, a spa area, a fitness studio and even a miniature golf course will also find their place there. For the exclusive experience, the eco-floating hotel even offers its own helicopter landing pad and a boat dock.

When the new hotel will be built is still unclear. However, there is already a location and this is exactly where the problem lies: in Qatar. A country that has caused a stir in recent years, especially because of serious human rights violations.
