First Wellbeing Center opened in Tuscany

The COMO Shambhala Retreat comes to Italy

21 April 2021

Who doesn't dream of relaxing in the Italian sun and treating themselves and their body to some time out? For the 30th anniversary of COMO Hotels and Resorts, the hotel group will open a holistic wellness centre on 11 June 2021 at the COMO Castello Del Nero in the Tuscany. The wellbeing concept comes from the COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali, often called the "Queen of Spas", which combines a spiritual retreat and health centre with a holistic wellness programme.

Tuscany invites you to recharge your batteries

The retreat brings COMO's exclusive 30-year mind-body wellness philosophy to Italy, with therapeutic treatments, daily yoga, massage therapies and wellbeing treatments. Complementing the therapeutic approach is a dedicated menu featuring delicious, health-focused menus with dishes that boost energy levels and balance blood sugar.

The new Wellness Center is also impressive. Covering 1,000 square meters and designed by Paola Navone , it offers a wide range of services: seven treatment rooms, a gym equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, sun-drenched yoga and Pilates studios, invigorating thermal suites, a 25-meter heated outdoor pool, two tennis courts and an outdoor fitness area.

Historical estate in the middle of the wine region

The hotel's 300-acre historic estate, Castello Del Nero, is located in the world-famous Chianti wine region and is just a short drive from Florence and Siena. The interior design of the 12th-century castle, which forms the heart of the estate with its 50 rooms and suites, is also the work of Milanese designer Paola Navone, as is the retreat's wellness center.

One of the highlights of the property is the Italian cuisine of the Michelin-starred restaurant "La Torre", which is housed in the former stable building in winter and on the garden terrace in summer. Chef Giovanni Luca di Pirro uses the finest Tuscan produce, much of which comes from the estate's own garden.

In general, the COMO hotels place great value on the origin of food - this is also reflected in their nutritional concept. The fact that the property has its own vineyard, beehives and olive groves does the rest. In "La Taverna" as well as in "The Pavilion", the guests of the hotel can dine in a relaxed ambience.
