In principle, a hotel is never finished. You have to keep your finger on the pulse, rebuild, adapt to changing needs and move with the times. Daniela Frutiger, Giardino CEO, also knows this: "The Giardino Ascona has been around since 1986, so it's obvious that we're always setting new accents, remodeling and redesigning to meet the demands of our guests." And in keeping with the establishment's motto - "un po dipiù" - a true professional had to be called in for the latest redesign. Because translated it means something like "a little more". After all, you don't renovate the Giardino Ascona with just anyone.

Giardino CEOs, Philippe and Daniel Frutiger, found the professional in artist Daniel Pouzet. He is one of the most fascinating Parisian designers. His works are spread all over the world. They can be found in Asia, Africa and Europe as well as in the UAE. Pouzet has worked on a hotel resort in the Philippines, villas in Ibiza and Greece. Even an ecological house in Mexico and the hanging furniture of the manufacturer Dedon are part of his portfolio. It was also Dedon founder Bobby Dekeyser who introduced the Frutigers to Pouzet.

The renovations of the Giardino Ascona

"We are always full of new ideas and have a clear idea of structures, but we also need new impulses, a view from "outside", so we spoke to Daniel and invited him to Ascona," says Daniela Frutiger. Pouzet was delighted with the different styles that give life to the hotel and the arrangement around the central water pond. The terraces, the pool and garden, which make you feel at home immediately - all this inspired the artist.

He combined the Frutigers' ideas with his artistic approach and created a feel-good place. The location of the hotel bar was no longer ideal, so it was given a new place. They combined indoor bar and pool bar; the winter garden, the lobby, the reception and the yoga pavilion got a new look. "What we've done is a quick refresh intervention that retains the soul of the property," says the designer. In addition to lots of white and light beige tones, the 5* hotel now features floral design elements and hand-painted carpets by Daniel and his wife Marilena.
