"LIFT 109" – a plain name for an experience that is anything but ordinary: A glass elevator takes you up a chimney to 109 meters, offering a unique view of the London skyline. The chimney belongs to Battersea Power Station, one of the largest brick buildings in the world. At its peak, Battersea supplied a fifth of London’s electricity but ceased power generation in 1983. Today, the view is simply electrifying.

Holding a koala in your arms, feeling its paws on your shoulder, and looking into its button eyes – for many travelers, this is a long-held dream. Queensland remains one of the last places where this dream can actually come true. The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, named Tourist Attraction of the Year, makes it possible.

Skiing and snowboarding are all about the adrenaline rush—without losing sight of safety. The right ski goggles protect against UV rays, wind, and snow, but ideally, they also make sure your look is just as sharp as your turns on the slopes. That’s where the Swiss company Vallon comes in: with its trendy retro style, it combines bold aesthetics with high-tech lens technology—developed in collaboration with Carl Zeiss. A cool fusion of nostalgia and innovation!
Hairy temptation
Newton Courreges
Bobs, mohawks, and dreadlocks—hairstyles reveal a lot about our history and personality. The exhibition "Grow it, show it!" (Museum Folkwang, Essen) is now exploring the cultural phenomenon of hair. Fashion photography’s fascination with the subject is exemplified by Helmut Newton, who, in his 1970 Courrèges series for Vogue, shows that hair and accessories are more than just decoration.

Pharaoh's Palace
Royal Grand Museum Cairo
Over more than 20 years, a museum of superlatives has taken shape in Cairo, near the Pyramids of Giza—the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world's largest archaeological museum, often referred to as the "fourth pyramid." It has now entered its trial phase, opening the main galleries to 4,000 visitors. However, its centerpiece—the gallery showcasing Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s burial treasures—remains closed for now. Still, it’s easily one of the most exciting experiences this winter and the highlight of any trip to Egypt.
