Oetker Collection presents tenth Masterpiece Hotel

The Woodward Geneva opens in spring 2021

23 November 2020

The renowned Oetker Collection is pleased to announce that it will add The Woodward, a new "masterpiece" hotel in the heart of Geneva, to its exclusive portfolio in spring 2021. Owned by Bastion Holdings, the hotel is located directly on the shores of Lake Geneva and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Mont Blanc. Originally built in 1901 by French architect François Durel in the Post-Haussmann style, the hotel is located on Quai Wilson and is currently undergoing a complete remodel and meticulous redesign by world-renowned architect Pierre-Yves Rochon. With restaurants by Michelin-starred chefs Joël Robuchon and Alain Verzeroli and a 1,200-square-meter spa by Maison Guerlain, guests at The Woodward can expect true moments of indulgence and the unique service for which the Oetker Collection properties are world-famous.

The hotel was originally built in 1901 by French architect François Durel in the Post-Haussmann style. From spring 2021, "The Woodward" will shine in new, contemporary splendour.

Stylish retreat

Beyond the Woodward's historic façade, guests will find classic and contemporary interiors that offer a stylish retreat with spectacular lake and mountain views in the heart of the city. Each of the 26 suites has been carefully curated with its own character and individual design details such as marble fireplaces and bookshelves. 21 of the suites offer full views of the blue waters of Lake Geneva. The crowning jewels of the property are the Presidential Suitewith private dining room and loggia, decorated in elegant ivory tones and offering panoramic views of the lake from every room, and the Royal Suite, accessible via a private elevator and modeled after the style of a luxurious Parisian apartment.

High class cuisine

World-class culinary experiences are provided by Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Le Jardinier, whose New York outposts have both been awarded Michelin stars and are managed by Bastion Group. After seven years as executive chef of L'Atelier in Taipei, Olivier Jean will now take the culinary reins at The Woodward. L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon will showcase the legendary chef's open kitchen concept, offering 36 guests a spectacular culinary experience, as well as two dining rooms that are also available for private dining. Le Jardinier, whose name is a reference by Michelin-starred chef Alain Verzerolizto the French word for "gardener," is making its first European appearance at Woodward following its success in New York. Chef Verzeroli, who has seven stars in the Michelin Guide for eleven consecutive years for Joël Robuchon's three restaurants in Tokyo and whose roots are in classic French cuisine, is known for creating innovative dishes starring vegetables, many of which are vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the concept of valuing nature and what it gives us is reflected in the dining experience. The restaurant is housed in two glass-enclosed verandas overlooking the lake. Both restaurants will elevate Geneva's culinary scene with an emphasis on using local products and suppliers, including the high quality artisan chocolates of Geneva's Stettler Chocolate and Geneva's Castrischer pastry shop. Salvatore Martone, Robuchon disciple and corporate pastry chef at Bastion Group, will also base his personal signature dessert creations on this philosophy. The Woodward will also feature two bars and a tea room, as well as a private digestif lounge that continues the history of the original bank building into the modern era by transforming a former vault.

Exclusive wellness experience

Well-being is also part of the philosophy of the Oetker Collection. The hotel's 1,200-square-meter spa includes a wellness paradise by Maison Guerlain and a gorgeous indoor pool - at 21 meters, the longest in Geneva. There is also a state-of-the-art gym, two saunas, two steam rooms, two Swedish baths and a Jacuzzi. Guests can enjoy exclusive Guerlain treatments in six wellness suites, including one for couples and one for men.
