Ready to Relax: New Spa Experiences from OKU Hotels in Ibiza and Kos

The start of the season of the award-winning lifestyle brand OKU promises exciting yet relaxing novelties.

April 10, 2022

OKU, the soulfully curated luxury hotels that first opened their doors in 2020, offer understated five-star luxury in fascinating destinations for modern travelers. The Ibiza and Kos properties draw inspiration from nature and local connections. With relaxing and revitalizing wellness practices in their world-class spas, as well as culinary and musical experiences that awaken the senses, the hotels have quickly made a name for themselves. Speaking of the name, OKU is derived from a spiritual and architectural Japanese concept meaning "inner space." Perfect for those who want to expand their emotional world and get in tune with their emotions.

To kick off the season, the holistic properties are unveiling a new spa concept, a series of proprietary retreats, a new restaurant in Ibiza and a new partnership with the Ibiza Preservation Fund, which supports environmental and sustainable initiatives on the island.

Ultimate relaxation in OKU Spas

As the first European hotel partners, the spas will offer CBD massages and facials using oils from OTO , the leading CBD brand from the UK. Guests can enjoy the ultimate recovery experience with OTO products, which include a blend of organic seed oil, coconut oil and pure CBD with variations of citrus and herbal blends. A range of massages, including the Focus Rejuvenating Massage, offers guests a whole new level of holistic well-being.

Alternatively, OKU Spas offer the OTO Signature Renewal Facial, which includes an immersive journey into the spirit with re-centering sound therapy, followed by cleansing and exfoliation, a nourishing facial massage, facial mask, eye treatment and a moisturizing day cream. The CBD treatments are hydrating, calm the skin and stimulate the mind. Guests report reduced anxiety and skin inflammation, as well as a renewed glow inside and out. Further, CBD smooths the skin tone, reduces signs of aging, boosts concentration, calms muscles and provides an overall sense of balance.

In addition, the hotels offer an alternative way to experience island life. Guests are invited to explore a slower pace of life, to switch off and focus on themselves. A carefully crafted menu of indulgent treatments, combining ancient traditions with modern achievements, is designed to promote relaxation and form a connection with the island and nature as a whole. For further relaxation, OKU Ibiza plans a program of regular healing rituals. From sound ceremonies, gong baths, Reiki sessions to crystal healings, the hotel is expanding its "spiritual nourishment" offerings.

Fitness progress with the new retreats

Sports lovers (or those who would like to be) learn to push beyond their limits at an OKU retreat. These are hosted by some of the best-known names in the fitness and wellness industry. For its first retreat, OKU Ibiza has teamed up with James Stirling, the famous personal trainer also known as London Fitness Guy. The four-night, 16-person trip will take place May 19-23, 2022, with participants benefiting from direct access to Stirling. The personal trainer will also share his best fitness tips and extensive expertise, leading a series of group bootcamp, HIIT and circuit classes, as well as walking tours.

The restaurant in Ibiza shines in new splendor

The in-house restaurant, which has quickly made a name for itself in Ibiza's fine-dining scene, presents a brand-new look - and a new, refined menu - after an extensive redesign. Elegant, angled lines, bronze mirrors and striking orange hues define the design, which was created in collaboration with design studio Woodfever. Chef Mark Vaessen showcases the new menu with a raw bar and delicious Asian and global fusion dishes, including an impressive selection of robata and hibachi grilled dishes prepared from fresh seasonal ingredients.

The restaurant also invites visitors to actively get involved, going much further than simply offering a glimpse into the open kitchen. Guests have the exclusive opportunity to participate in private or group cooking classes with the chef himself. For sake lovers, weekly tastings are held to enjoy the Japanese delicacy. Contributing to the greater good can be done by ordering one of the dishes created in collaboration with the Ibiza Preservation Fund, where all proceeds are donated to the charity.
