Cruise ultraluxurious: the new Silver Dawn was christened

Silversea Cruises welcomes the third new ultra-luxury ship to its fleet in just nine months. The godmother is Nilou Motamed.

April 4, 2022

Numerous shipping companies have made it their goal to provide their passengers with the greatest possible luxury on the high seas. One that is always convincing in this regard is Silversea Cruises. In the last nine months, it has already welcomed two additions. Now, following the Silver Moon (July 2021) and the Silver Origin (March 2022), Silver Dawn will also be ceremonially commissioned.

Baptism with bagpipes

The naming ceremony took place in Lisbon. Traditionally, a bagpipe performance opened the ceremony, followed by other performances and speeches. Then, finally, it was time for influential food and travel editor, trendsetter and TV personality Nilou Motamed to break the bottle of champagne on the ship's hull. "It's a great honor to be chosen as Silver Dawn's godmother and to be on board for the christening in Lisbon," said the Emmy-nominated Motamed.

As a godmother, she perfectly fits in with the ship's concept. After all, she, too, loves traveling to faraway countries, making contact with people over a shared meal and having new culinary experiences. Just as the guests of the Silver Dawn will in future be able to taste and discover the cuisines of faraway countries in the S. A. L. T. Program from Silversea .

But the newest muse-class ship doesn't just have the high-end culinary concept that guests already love, shortly after its launch in 2021. It also features the Otium wellness program. Guests are treated to champagne, chocolates and other gourmet snacks as well as cocktails and customized in-suite experiences. The Roman-inspired spa invites guests to unwind. Otium is based on the tradition of the ancient Roman lifestyle.

Because the ancient Romans knew how to relax properly. They scheduled and reserved time for leisure every day. In other words, a time when doing nothing, pampering and pleasure were the focus. Today, you might just call it "me-time" or "#selfcare." The spa is almost 800 square meters in size and specially designed for the Silver Dawn.
