Six Senses: Second hideaway planned for the Maldives

The new relaxation retreat will extend over a total of three private islands. A dream come true for those who crave privacy!

1 October 2021

As of the end of 2022, the Six Senses brand will take over the existing resort Kanuhura in cooperation with Hotel Properties Limited. The hidden resort is located in Lhaviyani Atoll and comprises three private islands with Kanuhura. Together they are the absolute epitome of a Maldives Paradise with white sand, turquoise lagoons, lush tropical greenery and gently swaying palm trees under which it is wonderful to doze.

Pristine islands with a natural beauty

Stephen Lau, Executive Director HPL and Chairman of HPL Hotel Division: "We are delighted to partner with Six Senses again on our latest acquisition in the Maldives. Kanuhura is one of the few pristine islands blessed with amazing natural beauty. We are confident that the brand will be able to offer on Kanuhura what it has achieved at its sister resort, Six Senses Laamu." Until the acquisition is made, the resort can continue to operate via kanuhura-maldives.com and www.ihg.com can be booked.

Secluded villas in dreamlike surroundings

The resort will offer 80 private villas. These include magnificent over water villas, idyllic beach villas and spacious family villas. All with stunning sunrise and sunset views. Just 40 minutes by seaplane from Malé's main international airport, the pristine, paradise-like atmosphere of Kanuhura itself is matched only by the two deserted islands of Jehunuhura and Masleggihuraa.

Sustainable embellishments

Despite awards for the island paradise, further upgrades are planned in the coming months. The Over Water Villas will get private pools, new family suites will be added, the F&B concept will be adapted to Six Senses and the wellness treatments will set new standards. All of this will be done in keeping with the uncompromising sustainability ethos to which the brand is committed.

Perfect ingredients for a relaxing holiday

The redesign of the organic herb garden creates the perfect conditions for delicious vegetables, herbs and salads to flourish. Harvested fresh every day for direct processing in the restaurants and in interactive workshops with the chef.

In addition, more water sports activities and high-performance equipment will be added in the coming months. At the resort on Kanuhura, turtle safaris can even be organised on request.
