They are back: These countries have now reopened for fully vaccinated people

Travellers have had to wait a long time, but the time has finally come: as of recently, some wanderlust destinations are once again open to those who have been vaccinated.

7 December 2021

Previously, it was enough to know which destinations required the timely application for a visa. Currently, travel planning is a bit more complicated. Not only different requirements regarding entry regulations, testing and quarantine, but also the rapid change of these regulations significantly restrict the freedom to travel. Anyone planning a trip would therefore be well advised to take out travel insurance and keep an eye on the official websites of the chosen destination. It also doesn't hurt to look at infection figures. The good news is that after the first countries reopened their borders in the spring of 2021, a number of long-haul destinations have recently been added that are newly open to vaccinated people. They can be travelled without quarantine.

As of November 20 2021, the Cayman Islands are in their fourth phase of the reopening plan. This means that tourists from countries where at least 60 percent of the population has received at least one vaccination can freely move on the islands. Additionally, travelers need:

  • the Certificate to Travel, which you can apply online
  • a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure
  • travel insurance covering treatment costs for COVID
  • a rapid test on the 2nd, 5th and 10th day of the stay

Austria and Germany are currently not Travel Partners, Switzerland is. Additionally required:

  • Confirmation of at least three paid overnight stays in a "approved" hotel or resort
  • Medical travel insurance that includes COVID-19
  • On your mobile phone, bluetooth must remain switched on at all times

  • after 48 hours a quick test must be made in the hotel

Since regulations are constantly changing, it is important to take a look at the currently valid travel requirements of the respective destination before departure. This article reflects the current status on 6 December 2021. In addition, it goes without saying that all health authority requirements, such as those relating to mask-wearing or social distance, must be complied with in the country.
