Villa Kennedy Reopens with New Urban Retreat Concept

The future of the historic building of the former "Villa Kennedy" in the German Main metropolis Frankfurt was long considered uncertain, until now!

23 March 2023

When the "Villa Kennedy" in Frankfurt am Main closed its doors in March 2022 and the operational business by hotel operator Rocco Forte came to an end, Frankfurt am Main lost one of its most renowned luxury hotels. Just under a year later, there's joyful news to announce from the Main metropolis: Althoff COLLECTION will resume operation of the former five-star hotel after a thorough makeover and presenting a new concept.

Planned opening: fall 2024

Sneak Preview

Although the name of the new hotel is still top secret, Althoff COLLECTION has already leaked the first details of its implementation. In addition to a 320-square-foot Presidential Suite, the new hotel is expected to include 146 rooms, including 95 studios, 39 suites and 12 Signature Loft Suites.

Judging by the first project renderings, an "urban retreat" with a straightforward, high-quality and bright design will be created in the former "Villa Kennedy". Wooden panels meet soft textiles and create a warm and comfortable ambience.

As part of the Althoff COLLECTION portfolio, the stately, historic building is to be repositioned on the market.

A Villa with history

As early as 1901, the architect Alfred Günther built the stately home, then called "Villa Speyer", for the well-known banking family von Speyer. Stylistically, he focused on Gothic and Renaissance forms. After the city of Frankfurt took possession of the building during the Second World War and the "Max Planck Institute for Biophysics" was housed inside, the villa was converted into a hotel in the early 2000s. In 2006, the "Villa Kennedy" opened with its restored historic facade and new buildings in the same style.
