November 17, 2020

Two new, exceptional hotels will be added to the portfolio of the luxury hotel group Kempinski Hotels for the 2020 winter season: Firstly, the first 5-star luxury hotel in Engelberg, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg - Titlis Swiss Alps, which will welcome discerning guests from all over the world in the heart of Engelberg from spring 2021. Secondly, the two hotels on the Frutt in Melchsee-Frutt will be managed by Kempinski from the coming winter season and will benefit from the hotel group's international management expertise and global distribution network. "We are delighted to be able to include these two outstanding hotels in the portfolio of our international hotel chain in the future," said Martin R. Smura, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Kempinski Hotels on the occasion of the management contract signing with the owners.

Opening in spring 2021: Kempinski Palace Engelberg

Guests can expect 129 state-of-the-art rooms and suites with high-quality materials, an exceptional range of gastronomy and a spa and wellness area with infinity pool on 880m² of the top floor of the luxury hotel with views over the whole of Engelberg at the Kempinski Palace Engelberg from spring next year. Historical features of the former building from 1904 were worked out in close cooperation with the monument protection authorities and give the hotel with the functionally and architecturally integrated, historic Kursaal its special flair - certainly another trump card for the attractiveness of the Engelberg tourist region. The lively destination is conveniently and easily accessible by car, train or via Zurich Airport, both in summer and winter.

The second new addition to the Kempinski Hotels is also impressive: In the middle of central Switzerland and very close to Lucerne in the small holiday area of Melchsee-Frutt, two modern hotel buildings at 2,000 metres directly on Lake Melchsee have been welcoming guests since 2011 and 2016 respectively. While the upper part has 63 rooms, one junior suite and three suites and scores with a unique spa landscape on 900 m², haute cuisine and Swiss cuisine in an authentic lodge ambience, modern design and alpine cosiness characterise the uncomplicated stay with the family in the other hotel part with 33 rooms, four junior suites and 10 suites, which is rounded off by its own bowling alley, cinema and Kids Club. The inspiring ambience of the seminar infrastructure with panoramic views is ideal for seminars, banquets and weddings. Both establishments are connected by an impressive underground passageway. "With our many years of experience in the management of hotels, we will not only be able to offer new services and offers for the guests of the hotels on the Frutt, but will also be able to score with marketing in the global area. The expertise of our Global Sales Offices and the networking with international booking platforms and channels will definitely drive sales," adds Amanda Elder, Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Board Kempinski Hotels.
