10 September 2021

If you want to beat the autumn blues, you should definitely consider a weekend getaway. Because even if your annual leave is already consumed, you can visit much more than just your own living room during the weekend.

Prague

Hardly any other city is as suitable for a weekend trip as Prague. The beautiful old town can easily be explored in two days, and numerous city tour offers also entice you to beer rounds and bar hopping in the evenings. But Prague is especially beautiful from above. Whether it's the view from St. Vitus Cathedral or the famous Prague Castle: the city with its bridges offers a breathtaking panorama.

If you are going to Prague in autumn and winter, you should definitely add Trdelník to your list. The sweet pastry is a true delicacy. Although it originated in Slovakia, it is now also very popular in Prague and is served in various variations - from sugar sprinkles to Nutella. Especially the cinnamon version immediately spreads an autumn mood and is perfect for balmy sightseeing days.

Verona

Verona is known to most people as the setting of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In high season, countless people gather in front of the Juliet House on a daily basis to get a photo of the famous balcony. Those who would like to avoid the tourist crowds should definitely visit Verona in autumn. Because apart from the world-famous balcony, the city with its impressive house fronts is a wonderful destination for a weekend trip.

The over 2,000 year old city captivates with beautiful viewpoints, outstanding restaurants and entertainment on every corner. From art galleries to theaters to historical museums, Verona has something for everyone. With various art and wine tours, you can spend an afternoon exploring the best sides of the city and also get to know the culinary highlights.

Amsterdam

For many, Amsterdam is a classic spring and summer destination due to the tulip season. However, the city offers incredible impressions and landscapes, especially in autumn. Because, as soon as the leaves turn orange and yellow, the canals look simply breathtaking. Some boat tours also have covered boats, so you can take a relaxed sightseeing tour even in autumn without freezing.

The numerous museums in Amsterdam are also an ideal sightseeing destination, especially in the colder season, and also offer perfect bad weather programs. From the Van Gogh Museum to the Anne Frank House, there is so much to discover in Amsterdam. The small old town, which can be easily explored on foot, makes Amsterdam the ideal weekend trip destination. For the perfect culinary supply, numerous cheese specialties and the traditional "Bitterballen" - a kind of meat croquettes - tempt as a warm refreshment.
