Portrait of Susanne Kaufmann

Susanne Kaufmann became aware of the healing power of plants for beauty and health at a young age due to her love of nature. Born in Vorarlberg, she is now the fifth generation to run the "Hotel Post in Bezau by Susanne Kaufmann", and as part of this she has created her own spa concept, with a corresponding cosmetics line. Today, her products can be found in some of the best spas in the world. From Sils-Maria to Miami Beach: Susanne Kaufmann is one of the leading brands in the cosmetics industry.

Susanne Kaufmann finds the perfect balance with her family in Portugal at the "Hotel São Lourenço do Barrocal".

The perfect care before, during and after travel

Good preparation is the be-all and end-all of any trip. In some climates the air is quite dry, sleep often comes too short due to the different time zones and we forget to drink enough. All of these factors dehydrate our bodies and promote dry skin. For this reason, I use a particularly rich and moisturizing care before every upcoming trip: I wash my face with cleansing milk (01) and care for the skin with tonic and hyaluronic serum (02), which helps the skin cells to retain moisture through its concentrated herbal ingredients. Finally, I apply the eye cream line A (03) and the day cream with SPF (04) from my advanced anti-aging series. Therefore, on air travels I always have a TCM calming and sleeping tea with me, which I get from my doctor Dr. Brigitte Klett, expert of the TCM retreats at the "Hotel Post Bezau".

My sleep ritual includes the Susanne Kaufmann pillow spray, which I spray on shortly before falling asleep. A supportive diet is especially important above the clouds - vegetables and salad do not burden the body and contribute to a peaceful sleep. Although with these methods nothing stands in the way of a successful business meeting, unfortunately I haven't yet found a miracle cure for the well-known jet lag - except to adapt to the new time zone as quickly as possible. However, increasing tiredness is also accompanied by complaints. For example, overworked eyes tend to have a combination of dryness lines, dark circles and redness. For this reason, I always have the new Eye Stick Line A (05) handy. The stick can be quickly applied in between and provides the stressed eye area with much needed care. On long journeys, a lot is also demanded of the feet. Heavy, stressed legs are quickly made fit again with the leg and vein spray. I also regularly use the Purif-i hand spray (06) and the balm (07) against dry and chapped lips when I'm on the road.

Besides my skincare products, I can't do without my laptop and my calendar from Smythson. I also adapt my care routine to the destination and rely on highly effective products. Especially in big cities like New York or Hong Kong, the fine dust pollution is very high, which attacks and damages the skin. In this case, I specifically use anti-pollution ingredients, such as the Pollution Skin Defensce System, which consists of three ampoules with Ectoin, Vitamin C and Q10. What is never missing on my trips is the alkaline salt (08) - a true miracle cure for stressed skin, over-acidified body and tense muscles.

Once I have arrived at my destination and acclimatised, I support my body with sufficient sleep and make sure I eat warm meals on a regular basis. This ensures physical well-being, a healthy metabolism and subsequently helps my skin to be fresher and healthier.

I recharge my batteries on private trips with my family. Three weeks of vacation, preferably by the sea, without electronic devices - that's the epitome of my ideal destress program. In the summer months, I'm drawn to Portugal to the Hotel São Lourenço do Barrocal. This year, I was enchanted by the magnificent archipelago of the Azores. As soon as the first snow falls, I prefer to work off my energy by cross-country skiing and skiing in the Sella massif in South Tyrol and Trentino.
