These are the prettiest places in Europe

Besides the obviously gorgeous places like Paris, Rome and Ibiza, there are other gems in Europe that you just have to see!

20 August 2021

Europe has countless dreamy corners, probably everyone can agree! Especially in summer, places in the south often seem like in fairy tales. But even in autumn, small towns like Menton and Capri shine with full power and make us want to go there right away.

Here are four of the prettiest places in all of Europe.

Menton, France

Menton is considered the most Italian city in France. No wonder, after all, it is also the first place after the French border. The townscape is lined with ochre and red-tinged houses. A church tower rises at the top, and music festivals are often held in front of it. As you stroll through the dreamy alleyways, you'll discover a variety of unique galleries and local shops. At the harbour, small fishing boats and mighty yachts bustle about as owners like to eat moules-frites on the mainland from time to time. And the kilometre-long beach with its turquoise water is also an invitation to linger. By the way, even if it sounds a bit macabre, the best view of the pretty town is from the cemetery, which is a bit higher than the church.

Capri, Italy

The small island in the Bay of Naples delights with rugged scenery, craggy cliffs, crystal clear waters and luxurious spots. On the mainland, one designer boutique follows another, interrupted only by typical Italian food markets. Those on holiday in Capri enjoy a fresh limoncello, take out their handmade leather sandals or explore the Blue Grotto. This is a cave where the water glows extra blue as the sun's rays do the rest.

Cadiz, Spain

Cadiz is probably one of the most beautiful places that Andalusia has to offer. The port city is located in the middle of a headland and is thus surrounded by the sea on all sides. It could hardly be more beautiful! The city is also famous for its more than 100 watchtowers. These still stand in Cadiz today and date back to a time when the city was an important trading centre for ships from all over the world. And also otherwise, the Spanish place at the Atlantic coast is simply enchanting. Especially when the sun slowly sets, turning Cadiz into a golden paradise, it seems as if the world is shining its spotlight on it.

Aveiro, Portugal

The west coast of Portugal also does not spare with wonderful places. Aveiro, for example, is not only particularly worth seeing; with its numerous canals and colourful boats, the place is very reminiscent of Venice and Amsterdam. Only in Portugal! When you visit the Portuguese city, you will immediately notice the buildings that are entirely in Art Nouveau style - or the imposing cathedral with its striking bell tower. We also recommend the Museu de Aveiro, a former monastery, where you can now see, among other things, a valuable, very elaborately designed tomb made of marble.
