1. explore the largest stone pine forest in the eastern alps

The Defereggen valley is the purest mountain water paradise. But the forests there are also something to behold! Like the Oberhauser Zirbenwald in Defereggental, which is considered the largest closed Zirbenwald in the Eastern Alps. Whether it's a hike through the forest, a relaxing yoga session or a deep breath: a stay here is sure unforgettable.

2. enjoy the view above the treetops

If you want to see the spectacular natural landscape of the surrounding area from an eagle's perspective, you must visit the new Wildlife observation tower Oberhaus climb. High above the treetops in the middle of the national park, small and large explorers can spot eagles, bearded vultures, deer, chamois or marmots from the 22-metre-high tower.

3. take part in the "Waldwildniscamp Oberhaus".

As part of the National Park Children's Programme, the "Forest wilderness camp Oberhaus" children are invited to delve deep into nature on four dates between 21 July and 2 September 2021. During the two-day adventure, children spend the night in a rustic hunting lodge, listen to the sounds in the forest at night, and count stars.

The starting point and destination is Kals am Großglockner. Those who want to dive even deeper into the exciting mountain world at the main ridge of the Alps can take part in the 5-day "Summer Camp" in Defereggen valley. Small nature fans follow the "king of the sky" (the golden eagle) in the pre-season and in autumn on Tuesdays in Matrei in East Tyrol - they stalk the eagle from the Matreier Tauernhaus.
