The past twelve months have not been the best for tourism. But while some Countries still make ends meet, there are certain places that depend on holidaymakers. Because tourism is an engine for the economy and can have an impact on the lives of millions of people. From jobs to the development of the country.

These six places need tourists the most right now.

Malta

The dreamlike island state in the Mediterranean Sea is becoming increasingly popular. Numerous Europeans choose the place with English as one of the official languages as a summer getaway. Thus, the island also gets quite a bit of income from tourism, which has plummeted in recent months. From 16 May, however, the quarantine requirement for vaccinated, tested and recovered persons is to be waived.

Portugal

In recent years, the European insider tip has become more and more of a trend. Surfers, bloggers and gourmet lovers, among others, have made sure of that and have promoted the country strongly. This has been a boon for the economic situation in Portugal, as around 19 percent of the gross domestic product is taken in by tourism and travel. The most popular destinations are Lisbon, Porto, the Algarve and Madeira. Currently, due to the high infection figures and the strict corona measures, there is still a risk of infection in parts of Portugal. Travel warning. But the Algarve is not currently one of them. In the summer, however, relaxations should come to boost tourism in the country again.

Thailand

Thailand is also considered one of the most popular holiday magnets in the world and is therefore also very dependent on the income from tourism.
