Anyone who has ever been to Portofino knows that it is probably one of the most beautiful spots on earth. The village is nestled in a small bay and can only be guessed from afar. Here are five good reasons why you should celebrate your wedding in Portofino.

1. the place is not to be surpassed in exclusivity

They enjoy the Italian lifestyle on their luxury yacht, at a quick lunch on the Piazzetta or in the famous noble hotel Belmond Splendido. For those who imagine their wedding being really exclusive and fairytale-like, Portofino is exactly the right place. Because in this picturesque place, where one posh boutique follows the next, nothing is impossible. The finest food, fresh fish and champagne en masse are the order of the day. The village was made famous by Elizabeth Taylor, who already knew what beauty was in the 1950s!

2. the view is fantastic

Anyone who goes a little further up will be amazed, because the view from the top of Portofino is unbeatable. Bays with turquoise glittering water, luxury ships, colorful houses and a blooming flower splendor included. A popular place to get married is the church of San Giorgio. From there you have the best view of the small fishing village and can watch the colorful hustle and bustle of the yachts and dinghies.

3. romantic places around every corner

If you want to celebrate your wedding with a little more privacy, you should take a closer look at the monastery La Cervara. The exclusive building is located in the suburb of Santa Margherita Ligure and is probably one of the most romantic places in the world - although there are a seemingly unlimited number of them in Portofino alone. But back to the monastery: the property extends over several floors and is therefore perfect for hosting a truly spectacular wedding. From a cozy get-together under dreamy vines of trees and flowers, to a ceremony accompanied by a string orchestra while looking out to the open sea. What's also not to be missed, of course: Italian specialties like burrata, prosciutto and Aperol, before you step one floor up, to the lavishly set wedding dinner.

4. the event will be unforgettable

One thing's for sure: those who celebrate their wedding in Portofino will have something to talk about for a long time to come. After all, it's not every day that you find yourself in a Hollywood dream come true. The location offers countless photo spots and convinces with a magical atmosphere that cannot be surpassed in luxury. But beware: the parking situation in Portofino is a bit complicated. Therefore, it is advisable to accommodate your wedding guests in a secondary location and organize shuttles.

5. you can combine wedding and vacation

If you are already in this region of Italy, you should also take the opportunity to explore the breathtaking area. Because in Liguria there are not only countless culinary specialties, but also small towns and cities that you can't get enough of. For example, there is the dream bay of San Fruttuoso, which can only be reached by boat - unless you go on a hike through the associated nature reserve. Or the dreamy village of Camogli, which has become famous for its harbour and the arrangement of the colourful houses. Also, in the direction of Genoa there are numerous small towns worth visiting. Sori, Bogliasco and Genova Nervi are just a fraction of what else awaits you in the Italian Riviera. On the other side of Portofino are the Cinque Terre. Five coastal villages that are best explored by train or boat.
