Floating hotel surrounded by flora and fauna

The Arctic Bath Hotel in Sweden.

August 18, 2019

Arctic Bath Hotel and Spa - Floating Hotel Concept

The Arctic Bath Hotel and Spa is one of the most innovative hotel concepts, located in the Swedish village of Harads. The village is known for its geographical location: situated in the north of Sweden and only 50 km from the Arctic Circle, with a little luck you can admire the Northern Lights. In winter, the hotel's platform freezes in the ice of Sweden's Lule River; in summer, it floats blissfully on the water. The concept was inspired by the age of driftwood, transporting felled trees downstream in the region. The unique idea for the development of a hotel was first brought to life and designed by architects Bertil Harström and Johan Kauppi in 2013.

Spirit of Peace and Care

Thanks to the hotel's circular architecture, guests - summer and winter - can benefit from the building's water access. At only 4 degrees Celsius in winter, the Arctic bath is a true detox programme that gets mind and body going. After all, the gorgeous sight of the Northern Lights already provides enough relaxation! After a refreshing swim in the Arctic water, the hotel's own spa with selected products from the brand Kerstin Florian ideal for relaxing moments. Purification and detoxification treatments, as well as hot stone massages, ensure an even more pleasant stay by the water. The 4 pillars of the hotel are evident throughout the hotel concept: balanced nutrition, sport and exercise, and Peace & Care for Mind & Body. These pillars of the Arctic Bath Hotel & Spa give every guest a detox retreat of a different kind.

Outstanding facility with unique architecture

The floating main building has a restaurant, lounge, bar and shop. For relaxation and as a retreat serve charming cabins, which can be occupied either on the water or on land. In addition to outdoor recreation, the hotel also offers cultural activities in the area. If you want to have the facility all to yourself, it is possible to use it for private events.

Depending on your needs, the cabins can be booked on water or on land and are divided into 2 categories:

Arctic Bath "floating" Cabin

The 23.8 m2 cabin has a double bed, underfloor heating and pellet stove, stove, air conditioning, minibar, Wi-Fi and a bathroom with shower. A 57.5 m2 wooden terrace outside the cabin is the perfect place for meditation and watching the northern lights. The floating cabins, like the main building, were designed by architects Bertil Harström and Johan Kauppi.

Arctic Bath Land Cabin

The "Land Cabin" is a cabin on stilts on the shore, surrounded by vegetation, connected to the main building by walkways. The 61.8 m2 cabin sleeps 5 and has a loft with a spiral staircase. The cabins are each equipped with 5 beds, pellet stove, air conditioning, minibar, wifi, a bathroom with bath and shower, and underfloor heating. The deck is 8 m2 and offers space for meditation, a leisurely morning coffee or just relaxing. The land cabins are designed by architect AnnKathrin Lundquist.

Hotspot: Eco-friendly lifestyle

For a one-time fee of 250 Swedish kronor, pets are welcome in the cabins. This fee will be donated by the Arctic Hotel & Spa to a regional drinking water project. The Arctic Bath Hotel & Spa is scheduled to open at the end of 2019.
