Vacation with the vintner

The most beautiful wine hotels for a pleasurable trip.

30 September 2020

Oh, the pleasures of wine - the liquid happiness in red, white and rosé has long since developed into a cultural asset. The combination of wine and holiday, in the midst of vineyards and vines with the best service and a touch of luxury make wine hotels extremely popular destinations. The hosts are just as diverse as the wines - we have the most beautiful wine hotels at a glance.

1

Hotel der Weinmesser, South Tyrol

The Vinumhotel "Der Weinmesser" is a very special place. As the first wine hotel in South Tyrol, it is important to the hosts to introduce all their guests the cultural asset of wine in all its richness and facets. The hotel's wine experts understand holidays as a holistic interplay of enjoyment, vitality and joie de vivre. In 2010, the South Tyrolean hotel was reopened very close to Merano. From masterfully prepared delicacies and soothing vinotherapy treatments, to exquisite tastings amidst the vineyards or in the unique wine cellars - wine plays the main role everywhere. The rooms and suites are elegantly and stylishly furnished, and the wonderful garden invites to take a walk and enjoy idyllic views. For those who particularly want to relax, the hotel offers a sauna area with Finnish sauna, a Roman steam grotto, a bio sauna and a panoramic outdoor sauna in the greenery. A special highlight: the 18-metres-long outdoor saltwater pool – always heated, so that you can enjoy the magnificent landscape from the water.

Relaxation is never neglected at the "Weinmesser". The wine experts of the hotel know how to bring the cultural asset wine closer to the guests.

Winzarei, Austria

Those who appreciate good wine and chic design will love the Winzarei! The former winegrowers' houses were lovingly converted into romantic chalets by order of winemaker Manfred Tement. They are located in four different locations in Southern Styria and across the border in Slovenia. Choose your favourite - for example the luxury chalet with infinity pool in the middle of the vineyards or the cosy vintner's chalet in a stylishly renovated stone house.

From the hotel "Winzarei" you can enjoy a spectacular view. The premises inspire with a special atmosphere.

Hotel Villa Sorgenfrei, Germany

Once a castle-like mansion and representative summer residence of Baron von Gregory, today a romantic hotel with 14 rooms, two suites, restaurant and function rooms. The listed hotel with its 7,000 square metres of gardens and parkland offers an escape into the countryside just a few minutes from Dresden city centre, in the villa town of Radebeul. The 14 rooms are furnished in the style of the 18th century and give the ensemble an almost enchanted flair. Spa treatments specially developed for the villa await guests in the nearby "Oasis of Beauty and Health". The special highlight, however, is the "Atelier Sanssouci" restaurant, which has been awarded a Michelin star and 16 Gault&Millau points. The former banqueting and garden hall features seven-metres-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, which remind of an orangery. The kitchen team led by Konrad Lange creates modern interpretations of French cuisine and presents eight-course menus à la carte.

The Hotel Villa Sorgenfrei is reminiscent of a castle. The gardens ensure peace and quiet - despite the proximity to Dresden city centre.

Malat Winery and Hotel, Austria

The wine boutique hotel Malat in the Wachau is a very special place for wine and pleasure. The traditional winery of the Malat winegrowing family is a real family business, where everyone helps and works together. You can feel this not only in the fine wines, but also in the hospitality. The hotel combines local materials with modern architecture. The stones of the old Hafnerhaus were partially integrated into the hotel, and you can also enjoy a great view of the nearby Göttweig Abbey.

Hotel Ansitz Rungghof, South Tyrol

South Tyrolean joie de vivre in a stylish ambience - On a sunny hill in South Tyrol's south lies the Hotel Ansitz Rungghof, near Eppan. Quiet and relaxed, it surrounds itself with vineyards, orchards and forest. The historic estate has been owned by the Mauracher family since 1917. It was they who transformed the original farm into a country inn during the economic crisis of the 1930s. Soon the Rungghof became a popular excursion and holiday destination. The family's time-honoured hospitality and passion are combined here with modern elements. At the Hotel Ansitz Rungghof you will find comforting relaxation and indispensable enjoyment. Junior chef and 2-hood chef Manuel Ebner breathes new life into old recipes full of passion. In the hotel's own "Restaurant 1524" he creates new dishes and experiments with spices and fresh herbs from the hotel's own garden. Body and soul also find complete relaxation here - because the Hotel Ansitz Rungghof offers its own small sauna with associated relaxation area. When you return to your room after dining and relaxing, the holiday experience is crowned. Hotel Muchele, South Tyrol

Refreshingly traditional and unaffectedly designed - that is the Hotel Muchele. It is located only a few kilometres from Merano on the sunny side in the small, quiet village of Burgstall. Since 1952 you can experience real hospitality here: one of the five family members is always nearby to take care of your wishes. The casual atmosphere delights wine lovers as well as architecture enthusiasts and individualists - in fact anyone who has ever set foot in Hotel Muchele. Let yourself be pampered in the Anna SPA, take a dip in the 21-metre pool or heat up your immune system in the sauna. Hotel Muchele is also refreshingly different in culinary terms: the young and cosmopolitan "kitchen rockers" make sure of that. Under the motto "no ski-ski" they conjure up colourful and down-to-earth dishes with ingredients of the best quality - preferably from South Tyrol. Afterwards, a fruity cocktail or sinful wine is not to be missed in the hotel bar, which is more like a large living room with colourful couches and cosy designer armchairs than a bar.

Hotel Muchele was awarded the international Future Prize 2017 as a trendsetter in the hotel and gastronomy industry. The sommeliers at Hotel Muchele are experts in their field.
