9 December 2020
What could be better than escaping the daily grind and switching off with a good film? Especially now during the winter and pandemic season, the longing for other countries and cultures is more present than ever. Fortunately, there are blockbusters that take us visually to the most beautiful places in the world and immediately trigger a pleasant holiday feeling.
Mamma Mia (2010)
The star-studded musical comedy is set in the middle of a paradisiacal Greek island. In fact, however, this is only a film set, but this is true to the original and authentically inspired by the popular holiday destinations of Mykonos and Santorini. So if you're in the mood for a summery Greek flair, this film is a good choice.
Eat, Pray, Love (2010)
A film that definitely makes you want to go to faraway places! Julia Roberts plays a woman who travels around the world to find herself. She gets carried away by the pleasurable dolce vita of Italy, relaxes in an Indian ashram with yoga and meditation and falls in love in dreamlike Bali. A feast for the eyes.
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
A romcom with an impressive setting. The main role is played by the city of Singapore, which is almost kitschy in scene. But nowhere fits the story better than in the scenery of the richest cities in the world. After the second panorama shot at the latest, one is overcome with wanderlust to the colorful, far east.
Into the Wild (2007)
Based on a true story, this film is about a university graduate who breaks out of his daily routine to lead a self-determined life far away from civilization in rugged Alaska. In this film you can look forward to beautiful pictures from the west of the USA, as well as breathtaking nature shots.
The Beach (2000)
A film for all adventurers among us. The blockbuster takes us to a paradisiacal dream island of Thailand. Viewers are virtually overwhelmed by the beautiful and detailed nature images of this classic. Miles of sandy beaches, coconut palms and sun every day. "The Beach" really exists and is actually called Maya Beach.
