Location & neighborhood

The San Domenico Palace is located at the end of the lively shopping street in the old town of Taormina. This means guests enjoy the best of both worlds: the city's stores, bars, boutiques and restaurants are just a few minutes' walk away. But at the same time, a wonderful tranquility hangs over the imposing property. From the windows of the rooms and suites, the view falls out to sea. If you turn your head a little, you can even see Mount Etna. All major sights are within walking distance. The property is an imposing, sprawling building with a lot of history.

Rooms & suites

In total, the San Domenico Palace has only 111 rooms and suites. For each accommodation, several monks' cells were combined during the remodeling. They all score with a spacious layout and stylish furnishings. All rooms have wonderful views. On the one hand, the wonderful garden that lies between the hotel and the coast. And on the other hand to the sea.

Some of the rooms have their own plunge pool. The Royal Suite is particularly popular. Because from its terrace - and from the pool - you can see Mount Etna. With a bit of luck, even while it's spitting fire. Also part of the panorama: the ancient Greek theater and the Ionian Sea. It wouldn't be Four Seasons if amenities in the bathroom, beds, and furnishings weren't impeccable.

Food & Drinks

Chef Massimo Mantarro, himself a native Sicilian, drew inspiration from his roots. At the same time, however, he retained his love of experimentation. Guests can taste the result of his work at Principe Cerami. The gourmet restaurant impresses with its fine creations as well as with its beautiful panorama. Head sommelier Alessandro Malfitana provides the appropriate wine accompaniment. Guests also choose from a water menu, and the bread cart rolls up for appetizers.

International classics and local specialties are on the menu at Rosso. Fresh seafood and creative cocktails are available at the poolside Anciovi restaurant. The lush garden is the beautiful setting where Bar & Chiostro serves light meals and cool drinks.

Wellness & Fitness

Without understatement, the infinity pool is magnificent. It is located directly on the cliff above the bay of Taormina. The views are simply unbeatable. Cozy cabanas, super-soft lounge chairs with iconic meringue parasols, and attentive staff to take care of the drinks almost make you forget that there's also a beach somewhere down at the foot of the city.

On the ground floor, guests who still have energy after a stroll through the city can work out. Weights and kettlebells are available in the modern fitness center. Treadmills, cross trainers and the like add the cardio factor to the workout. At the Botanica Spa, you can relax with the help of nature-based treatments. The hairdresser comes directly to the suite on request.

Service & Amenities

Anyone who has ever been to Taormina by car knows what there is not here at all: Parking spaces. The San Domenico Palace, however, does have some. It awaits motorists with (paid) valet parking. Among the other advantages is the mostly prudent service. Its guests are pampered with choice gifts. A beautiful place to relax is the lushly landscaped courtyard. The garden of the former monastery quickly becomes a favorite place for soul-loungers. On request, there is 24-hour in-room dining, car rental and babysitting.

Superior Rooms are available for people who use wheelchairs. They have extra large bathrooms, grab bars and large doors.

For families

On request, babysitters are available to lovingly care for the little guests while parents explore the city. Some of the rooms can be connected, and there are also suites that can accommodate an extended family.

A Tip from the editorial office

Anyone strolling through the hotel should definitely keep their eyes open. Because in addition to beautiful antique furniture, historical artifacts from the building's long history adorn the walls and corridors. Every walk becomes a vernissage.

At Prinicipe Cerami, the signature dish must be on the table: pasta e seppia. The combination of sea and earth comes as squid ink tagliatelle served on homemade spaghetti with squid ink and zucchini flower fondue. The creations of master pastry chef Vincenzo Abagnale are worth a sin.
