On April 1, the cult hotel in Barcelona finally opens its doors again.

The Barcelona Icon

With its 100-year history, the hotel is considered one of the icons of Barcelona and captivates with luxury, unique concepts and exclusive service. "We are very happy to finally be able to open again for our guests - spring is now coming to Barcelona and with it life is coming back to our hotel. Our dedicated team has been preparing everything over the last few weeks so that guests can expect an unforgettable, safe and special holiday experience," explains Hotel Manager Friedrich von Schönburg.

Stars such as Frank Sinatra and Sofia Loren have stayed in the historic rooms.

Guarantee for highest safety standards

For the reopening, the hotel offers its guests a special service for a safe arrival: For all bookings made through the El Palace Barcelona website, the airport transfer is included in the price. This is provided by a trusted partner company that applies all hygiene and security protocols. The hotel has also developed an app for its guests to check in online and contact the team digitally if they wish. Strict hygiene protocols are also followed when cleaning and disinfecting private and shared spaces, as well as ensuring social distancing. All employees are required to take a daily temperature reading and wear a protective mask while on duty.

Numerous highlights await the guests to make their stay unforgettable.

"Loving Barcelona" - Insider tips from the locals

There's always plenty to discover in Barcelona - both for guests visiting the city for the first time and for those who keep coming back. Who wouldn't want to know the locals' favourite places: The best tapas bar, the place with the best sunset view, the most delicious ice cream or the coolest art gallery. For this reason, El Palace Barcelona has created the exclusive "Loving Barcelona" guide for its guests, which is available in every room. It contains the team's recommendations on the city's most popular spots and secret gems.

The luxury hotel provides each guest with insider tips from locals.

New pop-up in the roof garden

El Palace Barcelona is known for the largest and most exclusive roof terrace in the city. Various pop-ups regularly take place here - such as an open-air cinema, yoga sessions or a wine festival. For the reopening, guests can look forward to the new pop-up "Masia El Palace". "Masia" means "country house" in Catalan and many restaurants outside the city are also called that. The gastronomic offering at El Palace Barcelona's rooftop garden is in the appropriate style. This dinner is also included in the accommodation offer "Les nits a El Palace" and also includes a 25 euro voucher for the Mayan Luxury Spa as well as breakfast. The hotel will have all of its F&B offerings exclusively in the rooftop garden for now, outside and inside, once it reopens. Breakfast will be served as a set menu instead of the usual buffet. Alternatively, there will also be a reduced room service menu for guests.

Spanish home cooking is served at the new pop-up "Masia El Palace". The roof terrace at El Palace is one of the most beautiful in Barcelona.

Relaxing time out at the Mayan Luxury Spa

Awarded several times by the World Luxury Spa Awards as the best luxury hotel spa - in Spain, in Europe and worldwide - the hotel's own Mayan Luxury Spa is considered a place where body and mind become one. Here, guests travel to the epicenter of Mayan culture. Traditional Mayan sounds, rituals and treatments combined with upscale French cosmetics from the exclusive and renowned cosmetics brand Anne Semonin make for an unforgettable wellness experience. The Pre-Hispanic Sauna, in whose dome volcanic stones are heated, into which guests can pour water with aromatic medicinal herbs, is unique in Europe. The so-called "Temazcal" is a tradition in Mayan culture and is used for cleansing, healing and spiritual enrichment of body, mind and soul. In addition to the high health and hygiene standards at the Mayan Luxury Spa, the protocols here have also been strengthened with regard to Covid-19 in order to obtain the Spa Quality Certificate.
