FIVE EXCURSIONS YOU CAN CURRENTLY TAKE WITH YOUR CHILDREN IN AUSTRIA

Staying active despite the pandemic.

24 February 2021

Currently, it is not exactly easy to find a balanced leisure activity. Especially with children who are actually used to letting off steam and interacting with others. But what to do when camp fever threatens at home? After the current measures around the pandemic have been relaxed, there are again some exciting activities that you can do with your little ones.

1

A trip to the zoo

Zoos across the country have reopened. This probably pleases the animals as much as the people. Take a day and stroll leisurely with your children through Austria's zoos. The extensive Schönbrunn Zoo is ideal for a day trip, for example. The children get plenty of exercise and also discover the exciting animal world. An absolute highlight!

2

A compass hike through the forest

If you like being out in the fresh air and want to encourage your children to do the same, the best thing to do is to start a fun compass hike through the forest. The children can head for a destination where a small treasure is hidden. With the help of a treasure map and a compass, the little ones then set off on an adventurous hike and have to find the hiding place. The forest air has a calming effect and provides a good balance.

3

An exciting visit to the museum

Even in bad weather there is currently a lot to discover - for young and old! Museums are an excellent way to bring some variety into everyday life and to see something other than your own children's room. A visit to a museum - of which there are countless in Austria - provides excitement, fun and educational moments. At Museum of Natural History in Vienna for example, children can follow in the footsteps of the dinosaurs and marvel at the impressive skeletons up close.

4

Enjoy an active time out in motor parks

Since many people spend most of their time at home anyway, it can't hurt to take a change of scenery for a change. For example, in motor parks, of which there are several spread across Austria. Here children can train their dexterity, agility and coordination. The best thing about it: adults can join in and treat themselves to some active time out as well.

5

A fun sleigh ride

The last weeks of winter can be enjoyed perfectly in the snow. Numerous ski resorts offer toboggan runs for the whole family. This is the best way to combine action, fresh air, exercise and lots of fun and distraction for children. Those who don't have their own toboggan can also borrow the equipment on site.
