JW Marriott Celebrates 2025 Debut in Greece

The first JW Marriott Greece hotel, JW Crete Resort & Spa, brings the brand's mindful ethos to Hellas.

March 19, 2024

Over 100 hectares, a picturesque stretch of coastline and a luxurious hideaway: this is how you can already imagine the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa . However, it's not quite there yet. The first JW Marriott Greece won't open until 2025. And yet there's already reason to look forward to it. The hotel promises to be a unique franchise project from Vasilaikis SA and Marriott International. The successful company SWOT Hospitality is taking over the management of the new luxury hotel in Greece.

Authentic elegance

The renowned architecture firm Block722 is responsible for the design of the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa. It combines the authentic Crete heritage of the island with the elegance that guests have come to expect from JW Marriott. The new resort will comprise 160 stylish rooms as well as suites and villas. The latter two will have a private pool or a Jacuzzi.

The location of the ensemble couldn't be more beautiful. The first JW Marriott Greece is located on Marathi Beach on the outskirts of Chania. It's known for its crystal-clear, shallow waters and functions as a starting point for excursions to Crete. The medieval town is not the only place worth exploring. You should also visit the surrounding area with some of the best beaches on the island. It's about two hours from the airport to Heraklion.

New luxury on Crete

It's already hidden in the name of the new JW Marriott Greece: the spa. In fact, the new resort on Crete will offer exceptional service as well as a whole wellness experience. The spa is complemented by a fitness center, a beach club and numerous Family by JW experiences. Several swimming pools complete the complex.

Marriott International is also convinced: "Greece continues to be one of the most attractive destinations for travelers from around the world and our agreement to open the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa reflects the continued demand for luxury accommodations throughout the country", said Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International.
