Stepping through the imposing baroque gate of the new Portrait Milano from the lively Piazza del Quadrilatero in the middle of Milan's fashion district, you'll immediately be enveloped by a soothing sense of calm. Italian design meets upscale materials here, with a perfect interplay of colors and textures. Add to this the relaxed dolce vita vibe: the luxurious boutique hotel is a sophisticated hideaway.

Tradition & Modernity

A place of tranquility, that's what the impressive building has always been. Built in 1565 as a monastery, today it's one of the oldest Lombard Baroque buildings in the world. After housing the creative workshop of the internationally renowned architect Mario Bellini from 1980 to 1990, the historic property underwent extensive renovation. Numerous original details were preserved. Of course, without sacrificing modern amenities.

The place where priests and monks once pursued their studies now houses 53 guest rooms and 20 suites. Not only do they stand out for their timeless elegance, they're also extremely spacious. Every inch reminds you that you're in Italy. The choice of fabrics and materials couldn't be more tasteful either. No wonder, since none other than Michele Bönan was responsible for the concept.

Surrounded by luxury

Other amenities at Portrait Milano include a state-of-the-art gym, an expansive wellness area complete with first-class spa treatments, and a large pool. Additional urban oases include L'Orangerie and Il Giardino. The casual dining restaurant 10_11 serves classic Italian cuisine. As is customary in Bella Italia's finest families, everyone helps themselves from the large soup bowls and serving platters in the center of the table. Executive Chef Alberto Quadrio is responsible for the culinary delights.

Outside the hotels doors, the city awaits. The historic arcades of the former monastery are also home to luxury boutiques as well as gourmet experiences. Moreover, the hotel overlooks Piazza del Quadrilatero, one of Milan's newest sights. The most hottest places for fashion, art and design lovers are no more than a short walk away. Portrait Milano is a member of Leading Hotels of the World.
