Viennese coffee house culture and Rhenish cordiality

Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg opens Sacher pop-up café with original Sacher cake

9 October 2020

From 11 October to 1 November 2020, guests at the Grandhotel can experience Viennese coffeehouse culture and enjoy original products from Café Sacher Vienna - including, of course, the world-famous Original Sacher Torte. Because in the current period, foreign travel is only possible to a limited extent - even to the neighbouring country of Austria. That's why the Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg is bringing a piece of Vienna to its guests in the Bergisches Land: for three weeks, the Salvador Dalí Bar will be transformed into a Sacher pop-up café. Visitors to the café can expect a cosy Viennese coffee house atmosphere with original products from the house of Sacher every day. Classical music and an excerpt from the Café Sacher Vienna menu provide a piece of authentic Austrian luxury in the style of the Sacher Hotels. Of course, the most famous cake in the world - the original Sacher Torte - is not to be missed. Guests can enjoy the chocolatey original in the pop-up café with whipped cream or purchase the entire cake in the typical wooden box to take home. A special overnight package, in which Sacher products are used for the in-room treatment, rounds off the offer.

The original Sacher Torte makes connoisseurs' hearts beat faster.

Connecting common values

The two grand hotels have been friends for many years. They share the same values in terms of cuisine, style and outstanding service. In particular, the focus on incomparable gastronomic offerings distinguishes both five-star-superior hotels. The idea of the collaboration came about through close contact between Matthias Kienzle, Hotel Manager of the Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, and Andreas Keese, Hotel Director of the friendly Sacher Haus in Vienna. "I would like to express my sincere thanks to Andreas Keese and the team of the Hotel Sacher Vienna for this great cooperation and the long-standing friendship," explains Matthias Kienzle. "Nothing embodies Viennese coffeehouse culture in such an incomparable way as a piece of the original Sacher Torte. It is our pleasure to bring a little piece of Austria to the Rhineland with our Sacher pop-up café and to offer our guests this wonderful experience."
