Walking on the warm sand with the wind blowing through your hair and watching the sun set on the horizon across the sea. This is what ultimate holiday happiness looks like. All you need is a dreamlike beach . The Canary Islands offer the perfect backdrop for this. It's not for nothing that they are called 'Las Afortunadas', 'The Lucky Ones', in Spanish. Although it is almost impossible to choose the most beautiful beaches among all these beautiful places, a few of them stand out.

1. cala de Tacorón, El Hierro

The bay of Tacorón may not be the biggest, but it is clearly one of the most beautiful places in the Canary Islands. The bay offers the perfect bathing conditions all year round. The main reason for this is the extremely calm sea here, which the locals call Mar de las Calmas. The shimmering blue tones of the sea, in combination with the reddish rock formations and paved stone paths in sandstone colours make every heart beat faster.

2. playa del ingles, valle del gran rey, la gomera

The volcanic sand is a great place to relax and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and the endless ocean. While other beaches are located in a purely natural environment, Playa del Ingles offers numerous possibilities for leisure activities. Those who prefer to end the day comfortably, in a restaurant by the sea, will find various culinary options here.

3. playa de El Golfo, Lanzarote

This beach is located in the middle of a nature reserve and is one colourful spectacle. The black lava sand, combined with the curved volcanic rock formations, is a real eye-catcher. Also, not far from the sea is an elongated lagoon. Its deep green waters perfectly contrast the black sand and the yellows and reds of the surrounding volcanic craters. No wonder the beach is a popular photo hotspot.

4. playa de Benijo, Tenerife

For the solitude-seeking traveller, the beach at Anaga Country Park is perfect. It is located at the end of a winding road that picturesquely meanders through a dense laurel forest. In doing so, the journey to the beach offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the peaks and gorges of the surrounding mountains.

5. playa de las Conchas, La Graciosa

La Graciosa is the smallest and least populated island of the Canaries. The most beautiful beach in La Graciosa and perhaps even in the entire Canary Islands is Playa de las Conchas in the northwest of the island. Here the finest white sand meets the turquoise blue sea; the beach falls flat into the water and invites to swim all year round.
