What is behind the "Hydrothermal Journey" trend?

Self-guided and results-oriented, Hydrothermal Journeys at Bürgenstock Collection hotels allow spa experiences at your own pace.

August 31, 2023

Everyone has different expectations of their spa visit. Some want to regenerate, others are looking for deep relaxation or regeneration. It's not uncommon to be faced with a wealth of possibilities in the spa, without knowing exactly what the body actually needs. To ensure that the self-guided wellness journey succeeds, the three hotels of the Bürgenstock Collection will be offering Hydrothermal Journeys from October 2023.

Target-oriented and individual

Behind the free programs stands a team of experts. Based on scientifically recognized benefits of hydrothermal baths, Maggie Derblay and Paula Alonso-Maside developed three different options. And they know what they're doing. That's because Maggie Derblay is area director of spa, wellness and recreation for The Bürgenstock Collection. Her colleague, Paula Alonso, is considered an absolute wellness expert.

At the beginning of each of the three programs rests the identification of the individual needs of guests. Relaxis designed for those who want to relax and let the mind rest. Regenerateassists the body in natural self-healing and reduces inflammation. Activateis designed to invigorate the body and promote mental clarity.

At your own pace

Depending on which destination the guests choose, their Hydrothermal Journey will be different. In addition to hydrothermal baths, the targeted use of temperatures is also used. For example, a visit to the sauna or a dip in a cold-water pool. The programs are the same in all three houses of the Bürgenstock Collection.

So whether you're at the Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne, the Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa Lausanne or the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa: The core elements of Hydrothermal Journeys are complemented by specific wellness experiences before and after the treatment. Seasonal add-ons are also added. Once the guest has defined his or her destination - with the support of the on-site experts, of course - guests receive their personal wellness journey printed on a waterproof card that finds a place in the bathrobe.

And then you are ready to get started. The guest follows the instructions on the map and the decent signage in the spa. Depending on the type of Journey, it lasts between 40 and 120 minutes. Of course, you'll always have the option to simply stop at any time.
