This is why Kitzbühel is the perfect place for a family holiday

Whether it's a leisurely hike or a challenging mountain climbing tour. The Alps are calling!

20 August 2021

Via ferrata, treasure hunt and active parcours for the whole family: In Kitzbühel the family holiday starts sportily. For spontaneous travellers, who want to travel to the mountains during the summer holidays, the most legendary sports town in the Alps is a hiking and climbing paradise for children of all ages. In harmony with nature, the destination offers a lot of fun and adventure along the Streif, Hahnenkamm and Schwarzsee.

Summer experience Streif: Adventure course on the "most dangerous" race piste in the world

The Streif race course is probably one of the most demanding courses in the Alpine Ski World Cup. With a length of 3,312 meters and 860 meters of altitude, many ski pros challenge each other in winter. In summer, the probably "most dangerous" racing slope in the world is an experience for young and old alike. Families can playfully get to know and explore the Streif at nine active stations. At the key points of the original race track, the adventure trail demands endurance, skill and balance from the kids, just as it does from the skiers in winter. Kraxl-Graudi and marmot garden: climbing paths for the whole family

At the legendary Kitzbüheler Horn the kids' climbing path awaits adventurous climbers. On the path, which is secured with steel ropes and steps, every climber can practice their first steps in the rocky terrain and test their own physical limits. All those who reach the summit of the Kitzbüheler Horn (1,996 metres) can enjoy a very special panoramic view of the Kitzbühel mountains and possibly even spot some marmots. The fixed-rope route is accessible via two entrances: The start at the summit, a few meters below the mountain station of the Horngipfelbahn (B3), or directly at the Alpenblumengarten.

Geo-Caching: Treasure hunt at the Hahnenkamm

Especially for children, the hikes on the Hahnenkamm pass by in a flash, because the treasure hunt with a cool GPS device helps with the way to the goal. With the Geo-Caching Path on the Hahnenkamm, the little climbers search for a small treasure, which can be found with the help of GPS coordinates. The cache is the container with the treasures. These are little things, small exchange objects, such as key rings, figurines or marbles, which can be taken home as a souvenir of Kitzbühel.
