Nammos: World Class Cuisine

Alessandra Ambrosio, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande ... the list of celebrity fans goes on and on. Launched in 2003, the glamorous beach club concept Nammos is poised to continue its triumph around the world – helipad, yacht shuttle, private plunge pools, and caviar menu included.

When Kyriakos Angeletakis and his wife Eleni opened a little restaurant at Psarou Beach in the 1960s, they had no idea that they were laying the foundations for the most luxurious party location on Mykonos. It took a few years, and when their son Andreas took over in 1985 business was sluggish. Not many tourists found their way to Mykonos in those days, and the few who came mainly stayed in Chora, the island’s capital, as there was no infrastructure at Psarou Beach – not then, anyway. That changed abruptly when the two local businessmen Zannis Frantzeskos and Konstantis Kousathanas teamed up with Egyptian chef Sammy Ibrahim to take over the restaurant: Nammos (English: sand) was born. Relaxed beats provided the soundtrack for the backdrop to a perfect summer’s day.

As guests sip champagne and ponder whether they should cool off in the plunge pool that comes with their private cabaña or take a dip in the ocean instead, the bubbles in the glass serve as a tempting preview of the culinary delights that await. Because for Nammos, only the best is good enough – think caviar menu. That standard is reflected in a constant striving for gastronomic excellence: Fish fresh from the Aegean nestles up to fragrant rice, Greek seafood meets carefully selected ingredients from around the globe, and all of it is accompanied by an outstanding choice of wines, cocktails and champagne. Hardly surprising, then, that the concept is conquering the world! This year “the original” is only operating on a limited basis – but happily, Nammos now has locations in Dubai, Qatar and Cyprus, with France set to follow. Hotels are to be added to the Nammos World in future too.
