The first direct flight from Europe to AlUla is here!

The direct flight to AlUla takes off from Paris. Just five hours later, you land not far from the historic sites in northwestern Saudi Arabia. And thus in a fascinating, foreign world.

February 3, 2022

It's been a great year for AlUla. And it's not even two months old yet. Because the desert destination, which has so far rarely been on the bucket list of European travelers, is increasingly making it into the sights of adventurous and curious travellers. The openings of wonderful hotels in front of a breathtaking natural backdrop also contribute to this. Just like the Habitas AlUla last time. Now it will be even easier to reach the region 1,100 km from the capital Riyadh. The region around the world heritage site of Hegra now has its own airport. From Europe, there is already the first direct flight to AlUla, departing from Paris.

Gateway to another world

The first direct flight to AlUla is making a significant contribution to putting the region on the tourist map. Because just a 15-minute drive from the new, futuristic airport, a whole new world awaits visitors. A world in which bizarre rock formations stretch up into the sky, in which rock tombs over 7,000 years old are waiting to be discovered and a world that is scenically charming like no other.

For, in addition to the desert, which stretches to the horizon before the eyes of the visitors on the almost 22,000 square kilometer area, the AlUla oasis offers the complete opposite. Lush date trees, figs and olives grow here. In the past, AlUla was an important trading hub on the old incense route. The remains of the ancient city of Hegra still bear witness to this. Today, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is the only one of its kind in the entire country. And at the same time, it attracts more and more tourists from the West. In addition to the sights in and around AlUla, Saudi Arabian tastes, traditional handicrafts and, last but not least, culture also attract tourists.

In fact, in the winter there are particularly many festivals. They are divided into four sections. Under the motto "AlUla Moments" visitors experience music concerts in Maraya with national and international artists. From February 11, the second edition of Desert X AlUla will take place. The massive exhibition transforms the desert into a huge gallery. On February 27, the Light Sky Constellation celebrates the stars in the dark night sky. And from March 13, AlUla Wellness is dedicated to unique sensory experiences combined with culinary highlights.
