Aside from spectacular design, clever sustainability concepts, urban trend destinations and secluded nature retreats, the best new openings in the coming months share one thing in particular: diversity.

The Madrid Edition

lounge

It is the hotel chain's second opening in Spain after Barcelona, and as usual, guests can expect outstanding design: clean elegance and modern interiors meet snow-white and vibrant color moments. © provided

Hip-swinging flamenco dancers, artful cocktails and Instagram-worthy cuisine: The grand opening of The Madrid Edition already testified to the new design hotel's exclusivity. The 177 rooms, 21 suites and two penthouses are as stylish as they are comfortable, and some even have their own terrace with views over Madrid's city center. It's not just the eyes that get their money's worth at the urban lifestyle hotel: Enrique Olvera, owner of the renowned Pujol in Mexico, was brought in for the culinary concept of the Jerónimo, while Chef Diego Muños from Peru creates the finest tapas in the Oroya.

Intercontinental Khao Yai Resort

Multi-award-winning interior designer Bill Bensley has transformed the new opening into a tribute to the first trains to cross Thailand's rainforests more than 100 years ago. © provided

It was Rama V, known to many from Anna and the King of Siam, who shaped today's Thailand like no other and during whose reign rail transport first made its way through the country. The new Intercontinental Khao Yai pays homage to this moment in history, with Bill Bensley responsible for its outstanding design. The designer was inspired by the style of the colonial era. The hotel is equipped with all the amenities of the present, such as the Spa Intercontinental and a well thought-out culinary concept, ranging from the all-day restaurant Somying to classic French cuisine at Poirot to fine drinks at the pool bar.

The first Como hotel in France, Como Le Montrachet, a luxury boutique hotel among the vines of the Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte-d'Or department, will open in early 2023. Como has taken over the renowned hotel and commissioned architect Paola Navone to reinterpret the villas in the spirit of classic Como design: a style with minimalist-contemporary touches, which the Italian designer is well familiar with. The 31 rooms and suites will be spread over a total of four listed villas. They will open gradually, which is why the demand for the first nights at the Como Le Montrachet is already incredibly high. The Como Shambhala Retreat, the first of its kind in France, will offer Asian-inspired treatments.
