Italian 2-star restaurant Agli Amici moved to Rovinj

Atmospheric ambience with spectacular sea view!

25 June 2021

The exclusive Agli Amici Rovinj is the new top address for gourmets in probably the most romantic seaside town Istria. Directly at the marina in Rovinj, Emanuele Scarello, one of the best chefs in northern Italy, will be at the stove himself until October.

A perfect stage for the Friulian 2-star chef: the restaurant designed by architect Piero Lissoni at the luxurious Grand Park Hotel Rovinj offers a spectacular view of Rovinj from its atmospheric terrace. Agli Amici is originally from Udine. But now one has also opened in the beautiful town in Istria. The Agli Amici Rovigno is not just a second restaurant for the next 4 months! Emanuele and Michela Scarello are moving their 2-Michelin-star restaurant with their entire Friulian restaurant and kitchen staff from Godia near Udine to Istria for the summer season.

Meanwhile, Amici in Udine is undergoing a whole series of redesigns. The re-opening of Scarello's family restaurant in Italy will follow on 1 October. But guests in Istria need not fear that they will have to do without the exclusive cuisine in the future. Because the restaurant in Istria will continue to be run by Emanuele Scarello and his Friulian-Istrian team.

Focus on local products

Especially picturesque Rovinj, where Croatian and Italian have always been closely linked culturally and historically and where both languages are spoken, is the ideal place for Scarello's cross-border Adriatic cuisine. As in Udine, the 2-star chef's creations in Istria focus on the products of small manufactures, breeders and fishermen. All this in line with the Scarello family's decades-long kitchen and wine philosophy of bringing the best of regional production into harmony with organic sustainability.

The kitchen presents three tasting menus (€ 110 to € 140): one with classics of Scarello cuisine from Godia, one as an Istrian journey with products from the Adriatic peninsula to Boškarin beef, Skuta cheese and lamb, and the third a tribute to Rovinj with fish and seafood at the centre.
