The brand-new member of the Four Seasons family will welcome guests in the middle of a remote nature reserve.

October 10, 2022

A private peninsula on the Pacific coast with more than 3,000 hectares of unspoiled nature, consisting of a green jungle that's home to numerous animals. In the middle of it all: the new Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo. Not only does it promise absolute luxury in a remote nature reserve, it has quite the environmental ambitions as well. The opening is planned for the end of 2022 and it's already taking first reservations.

Design in the jungle

The Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo pays homage to Mexico, which is evident in the design of the 157 contemporary accommodations. Most of them come equipped with a private pool. They are all united by their furnishings, which feature local artwork and design objects. The look and feel runs through the entire resort.

According to the motto "puro talento Mexicano," visionaries and creative minds from all design disciplines have joined forces to create the resort experience. Among them are Victor Legoretta and Mauricio Rocha, two of the country's greatest contemporary architects. Uribe Krayer and Estudio Esterlina were responsible for the interior design. Landscape and restaurant designers did the rest. Many of the pieces, such as plates, hammocks and candles, were created by philanthropic institutions.

Luxury in the jungle

The luxury hotel brand guarantees that guests will want for nothing. In addition to the modern amenities in the accommodations, there are four restaurants and bars, a golf course, pools, leisure facilities and a wide range of wellness and massage services. "At Tamarindo, we are creating a new resort experience that is intimately connected to its surroundings, both physically and spiritually," says Vince Parotta, Four Seasons President, Hotel Operations - Americas West. "If you think you know Mexico, you haven't been to Tamarindo."

Part of the experience is the immersion into local culture and tradition. Be it through traditional Temazcal ceremonies or a visit to the Discovery Center. Here, the hotel's own team of biologists gives insights into the diversity of the flora and fauna around the resort. After all, 70 endemic wildlife species and hundreds of birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles are native to the area.

Local gastronomy

The immersion into nature doesn't end at the Discovery Center – it continues at the restaurants. Guests will enjoy outstanding cuisine whose ingredients come directly from the resort. Four Seasons culinary director Nicolás Piatti created Rancho Ortega, a 14-hectare agricultural farm that supplies the kitchen team with the best ingredients.

In addition to a flock of chickens that lay the eggs for breakfast, 17 different fruit trees supply figs, pomegranates, cacao and the like. The more than 8,500 agave azul plants will probably find their way into the guests' tequila glasses sooner or later. And that is by no means all. Each of the four restaurants is taking its own culinary path. They are united by their seasonality, creative ingredients and the use of absolute quality products.

For the preservation of nature

To protect what is most precious, the Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo is committed to the concept of "rewilding," which intends to rebalance the environment. "Everything we do is guided by this ethos. And we hope that our guests will connect deeply with the land and the coast, thereby rediscovering their own balance and leaving inspired and invigorated." Further, they have committed to building on a maximum of two percent of the surrounding nature reserve.

The resort is located between the towns of La Manzanilla and Barra de Navidad and is just a 35-minute drive from the Manzanillo-Costalegre International Airport (ZLO). And yet, the setting feels like it's from another world. Reservations are already being accepted. The official opening of the resort is scheduled for the end of 2022.
