Rosewood Schloss Fuschl: Rosewood's second hotel in Austria to open in late 2023

The 15th-century fairytale castle is currently undergoing extensive renovations. Once the iconic property reopens its doors, guests can look forward to a luxurious experience in typical Rosewood fashion.

It took a little while for Rosewood, the luxury hotel brand founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1979, to open its first property in Austria. But now, just a week after Rosewood Vienna welcomed its first guests, the ball seems to be rolling – the premier brand just announced the imminent opening of a second Rosewood hotel in Austria.

A first glance at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl

Rosewood Schloss Fuschl will find its home in the former hotel of the same name. Currently, the traditional house is undergoing comprehensive renovations. Once again, the brand is demonstrating how important it is to preserve iconic buildings. Fuschl Castle has been a notable landmark of the region since the 15th century. Located on the shores of Lake Fuschl in Austria's Salzkammergut region, it's been an idyllic refuge for centuries.

Against the backdrop of a turquoise blue lake, imposing mountains and beautiful forests, Rosewood is building 98 guest rooms. Among them are 46 suites and six chalets. And, of course, Asaya, the brand's integrative wellness concept, will also find a new home here. Other planned features include indoor and outdoor pools, several first-class restaurants and lounges, as well as a fitness center.

A fairy tale vacation

Once it was archbishops and high-ranking nobility who came and went here. When the property on the small headland was first used as a hotel in the 1950s, discerning travelers from all over the world began to arrive. Among them were movie stars and foreign dignitaries. Rosewood wants to preserve the character of the unique hotel. At the same time, however, it wants to modernize the resort experience. A task that should be completed in just twelve months. Because the hotel will close at the beginning of September 2022 for around a year. It will welcome its guests as Rosewood Schloss Fuschl as early as September 2023.

Rosewood Schloss Fuschl is now the second partner project between Arabella Hospitality and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. They will jointly open Rosewood Munich in 2023 as well. "We're convinced that together, after extensive renovations, we can successfully position the property in the European luxury resort sector. We share Rosewood's values and culture and are already looking forward to welcoming the first international guests in Munich and at Lake Fuschl," said Karl-Heinz Pawlizki, CEO of Arabella Hospitality.
