It is one of the most geologically dramatic landscapes on earth - especially since it doesn't look anything like Earth. We're talking about the Arava Valley in Israel's Negev Desert. And that's exactly where the Six Senses Shaharut opens on 5 August.

The desert hideaway is the brand's latest addition and promises to be spectacular. Even the journey through the fascinating landscape is an experience, whether you opt for a helicopter transfer or take the journey in a car. From the very beginning, a Guest Experience Maker (GEM) is on hand to assist each guest. He welcomes the guests and gives them exciting insights into the region throughout their stay and takes care of unforgettable holiday moments.

Desert, expanse and wellness

The resort consists of 60 suites and villas spread across the vast desert landscape. Social distancing happens almost automatically, absolute privacy is guaranteed. The accommodations are modern interpretations of nomadic structures, they fit almost seamlessly into the environment. The interior design is reminiscent of the old Incense Road: natural materials such as wood, copper and stone predominate, the furniture comes from local craftsmen.

Now the suites themselves alredy guarantee a relaxing moment, but if you're in the mood for even more relaxation, the Six Senses Spa is the place to go. Here, experts from various disciplines take care of the physical and mental well-being of their guests. Two pools complete the spa offer. One of them, a freshwater infinity pool, allows swimming with a view of the desert.

Memories that remain

As with the other Six Senses properties, culinary excellence plays a major role in the newest addition to the hotel group. Inspired by the country's agricultural ingenuity, history and climate, the resort's kitchens serve up delightful creations. Delicious, nutritious and with ingredients partly sourced from the hotel's own garden, every course is a festival of indulgence.

But the hideaway in the desert has even more to offer. The real adventure is waiting outside the doors: jeep safaris, Bedouin-style desert picnics, hiking, e-mountain bike tours and camel trekking are just some of the things that contribute to a varied stay. And anyone who has experienced a sunset in the desert will carry this moment in their heart forever anyway.
