Vacation on Richard Branson's luxury island in the Caribbean: Meet Moskito Island

After more than 14 years of development and construction, Virgin Limited Edition is opening the long-awaited luxury Mosquito Island in the Caribbean.

7 October 2021

Moskito Island, located not far from the famous sister island Necker Island, is part of the British Virgin Islands. It is not particularly large, but all the more famous for it. After all, Sir Richard Branson bought the island in 2007 and created a haven for super-rich villa owners. What's more, he lives here himself: Last year, Branson inaugurated the 11-room Branson Estate. Those who have always wanted to spend their holidays on the little jewel in Caribbean climes, but have so far waited in vain for an invitation from Sir Richard, can now take up the cause themselves. Because from now on you can book two new, exclusive villas on the Caribbean luxury island.

Where the neighbours are billionaires

The two new additions to the portfolio of Virgin Limited Edition, the carefully curated collection of exceptional accommodations, bear the resonant names The Oasis Estate and The Pointe Estate. Both are unique in their own way. What unites them is their high-end amenities, their location on an island where billionaires have their private estates, and their thoughtful style.

"When Richard purchased the island in 2007, he was able to draw inspiration from his beloved Necker Island and bring some of the incredible designs and qualities that have made it the success it is today. But what makes Mosquito Island so wonderfully different is its personality and charm - a result of not only Richard's vision for the island, but also an amalgamation of other like-minded homeowners, their ideas and their unique vision for the island," said Jon Brown, Managing Director/CEO of Virgin Limited Edition. "Those visiting the island can now enjoy the privacy and glamour of a private island, with a choice of some of the best rental properties in the world, each with their own style and offering."

The Oasis Estate - Luxury with a view

At the highest point of Moskito Island lies The Oasis Estate. It combines contemporary, modern design with wonderful panoramic views. The four-story estate makes the most of the island's natural form. Transparent terraces, a swim up pool bar, billiards room, movie theater, rooftop terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows are just a few of the features of this luxury island Caribbean domicile. In addition to the main house, there are three guest accommodations, each with the utmost privacy and their own kitchen. The pièce de résistance is the curved master pool.

The Point Estate

Overlooking Manchioneel Beach and Virgin Gorda, the property has several detached accommodations and a main house. The latter serves as a common place to cook, relax, have a drink at the bar or enjoy the 180 degree view from the infinity pool. Dinners in the open-air dining pavilion are a special experience. From here, guests experience the most dramatic sunsets in the entire British Virgin Islands. Steps lead from the cliff-top Point Estate down to Mosquito Island beach. Up to 22 guests can be seated comfortably.

Both estates are exclusively bookable in their entirety, with prices starting at around 15,000 euros per night in low season, with a minimum stay of four nights. The price includes the estate manager, a private chef, food, drinks, water sports, a personalized activity plan, staff and accommodation for 16 guests.
