The unique "Hotel & Palazzo Vilòn" might be the most stunning and luxurious hideaway in the illustrious Italian capital.

The most romantic hotel in Rome isn't near the Spanish Steps, the Forum, or the Colosseum, but tucked away in a quaint and narrow alley called Via dell' Arancio at the end of the iconic and world-famous shopping street Via dei Condotti, home to some of the world's most luxurious boutiques.

As inconspicuous as its entrance may be, you'll receive the warmest of welcomes as soon as you cross the threshold: In place of an opulent reception, you'll find a chic front desk in a room to the left, where the dedicated team is awaiting your arrival and ready to escort you to the hotel's living room – the lounge of the in-house restaurant Adelaide. With a welcome drink in hand, your eye will start to wander and observe the homey atmosphere as well as the fascinating art that lines the walls and fills every corner.

God is in the details

The artistic allure is the signature feature at any "Shedir Collection" property, the relatively young hospitality brand whose portfolio includes the Vilòn among other outstanding hotels in Rome as well as one in Capri. This is unsurprising, given that the owner is a passionate art collector with exceptional taste and an affinity for unique interiors. Although the rooms and suites all boast their own individual design, they're united by their modern interpretation of mid-century elegance, which is harmonious and coherent despite the many one-of-a-kind elements.

In addition to the romantic ambience, the hotel excels with a home-away-from-home philosophy and top-of-the-line service – the bespoke itineraries, carefully curated by the staff, are among the absolute highlights – as well as the spectacular cuisine at Adelaide, which itself would probably be worth the trip already. Executive chef Gabriele Muro's authentic Italian fare is entirely modern and yet unmistakably Roman, resulting in unexpected dining experiences that you'll rave about for months. With just 17 rooms, it's one of the smallest luxury hotels in the Eternal City, which is not to say that there's a lack of space; on the contrary, in addition to the cozy smaller boudoirs, the boutique hotel boasts generous suites that can accommodate up to five people and come with charming terraces overlooking the "secret gardens" of the private Palazzo Borghese's courtyard. Up until recently, the adjoining palace was entirely inaccessible to the public, but now its most magnificent wing belongs to the Vilòn.

Imperial Opulence

Seeing the spectacular Palazzo Vilòn will leave even the most well-traveled globetrotters at a loss for words. The new addition to the hotel, located inside the stunning palace next door, is the epitome of luxury with four gorgeous suites and stunning frescoes that rival some of the world's finest museums. The furnishings are similar to those of the hotel – a blend of colors, textures and shapes, retro chic and undeniably Italian. In addition to a spa with a pool and a gym, the amenities include 24/7 butler service.

The crowning highlight is the baroque dining room, where you'll be able to enjoy tailored dinners worthy of an emperor. Life doesn't get any more dolce than this.
