Are These the 5 Best Airports in Europe?

Most people have one stopover on their travels in common: The airport! But which airports are the best in Europe? And which ones should you avoid?

As different as the individual destinations of travelers may be, many trips have a common starting point: The airport. Airports are usually places full of anticipation, whether it's a destination or the bed you've been sorely missing. But even more often they are associated with stress, frustration and anger. Flight delays, missing luggage and missed connecting flights are just some of the more unpleasant aspects you can be confronted with. However, the company Bounce has now addressed the question: Which are the best airports in Europe - also in terms of service quality?

In order to find an adequate answer to this question, it analyzed various data from European airports. For example, the number of stores, the number of restaurants, parking fees and even the AirHelp complaint score were included in the assessment. Overall, an airport score of 10 points was achieved. Here's the ranking:

The airport, which opened in 1931, is particularly impressive in terms of service quality. It achieved 8.25 out of a possible 10 points. This component of the airport ranking was based on ratings from passengers from all over the world. The queuing time, the cleanliness of the airport and customer service were also taken into account. No airport in the ranking achieved a higher service quality score.

4: Zurich Airport, Switzerland

The best airports in Europe are actually ranked in 4th place twice, with both Madrid and Zurich airports scoring a total of 7.44 points. However, while the Madrid airport shines above all in the area of service quality, its Swiss sister scores highly with its range of pre-flight entertainment. Also known as stores, bars and restaurants. Opened in 1948, it now handles 22 million passengers a year and therefore has plenty of room for improvement in terms of capacity.

The second largest airport in Spain and the seventh largest airport in Europe is home to Air Nostrum, Ryanair and Vueling, among others. Its foundations were laid back in 1916 with a small airfield, and the current location was opened two years later. For some time, it even served as a Zeppelin base. Despite its long history, passengers can look forward to many amenities. Among other things, extremely high service quality.

Copenhagen Airport is the largest airport in Scandinavia. It's located just eight kilometers from the city center and was opened in 1925. Although the parking fees here are the most expensive in the ranking of the best airports in Europe, it can make up for many points with its low complaint score on AirHelp.

As the second largest commercial airport in Turkey, it handles almost 30 million travelers a year. And yet the airport still scores highly in terms of service quality. The number of stores and restaurants also contribute to the good pre-flight experience. The foundation stone for Istanbul's second airport was laid back in 1998 and the opening was celebrated in January 2001. Since then, the airport has been continuously expanded.
