The British are back and have a serious travel fever! Thanks to a newly developed app that shows the vaccination status of residents in the UK, travelling is set to be much easier. It is also designed to replace the e-vaccination certificate when travelling abroad.

Vaccination app for travelling

A new app is set to make life immensely easier for Brits. Through it, residents will be able to show their vaccination status when travelling abroad. Appointments with the family doctor and viewing personal medical records are also possible with the app.

It is still unclear which countries will allow the app to be used as proof of vaccination. It is also yet to be used in the UK itself. There was talk that the British would have to show proof of a Corona vaccination when visiting a pub - here, the app would serve as proof. However, as this consideration met with great resistance, it was abandoned.

These rules currently apply for Great Britain

Recently, travel for tourism purposes has been permitted again for Britons. However, a return without having to go into quarantine is currently only possible from one EU country: Portugal. Anyone wishing to travel from the UK to other EU countries, including Austria, must adhere to strict conditions, such as mandatory testing and quarantine.

Due to current events, Austria is once again imposing a landing ban on all aircraft from Great Britain, according to a decree issued by the Ministry of Health. The reason for this is the spread of the British virus mutation. As of now, Great Britain is part of the list of virus variant areas. This means that entry from the UK, Brazil, India and South Africa, is very limited due to their status.
