Sandringham House in the English parish of Norfolk is the setting for this story of a woman at the end of her marriage who has to spend the Christmas holidays with her aristocratic family. By the way, the film was actually shot not only in England, but also in Germany: Nordkirchen Castle was used for exterior shots and the interior shots were shot in the Schlosshotel Kronberg , where you can stay like a royal already from €225,- per night.

7. portofino

One thing in advance: the last film on the list is set in the fictional Italian town of Portorosso. Inspiration for the lovingly animated location was apparently provided by the Italian Riviera, as well as the Cinque Terre region. In particular, the small port town of Portofino seems to most resemble the setting where two sea monsters go ashore and pretend to be humans. Animated or not, this heartwarming film made all viewers crave pasta and a trip to Italy.
